I removed the booster spring on the clutch pedal a few weeks ago and I wanted to bug people that have done it as well.
First off, the pedal feel is much, much improved. If you haven't done it, do it.
Only problem is that without the spring the pedal has a bit of loose free-play before engaging, which means that it shakes around a bit. This leads to an annoying rattle and also tricks the cruise control into thinking that the clutch pedal is being depressed which means it backs off the throttle. Haven't noticed if it's coming off enough to trick the clutch delay switch as well.
Anywho, wondering if people have seen that as well after removing the spring--I figure I'll set it up so the clutch delay is held in place all the time with a zip-tie but the rattle I'm not sure how to kill.
Issues aside, take the spring out.
I found the pedal was much too stiff without the spring. And I ride my bicycle every other morning up hills and stuff! It was just not comfy to shift without the helper, so I put it back in.

The pedal has a little bit of free play and the rattle can be worked out I'm sure. The benefits of doing this though are
enormous
, the pedal feel is vastly improved and you get used to the weight of the clutch without the spring quickly if you give it a few days.
Thanks much.
Just wanted to revisit this as a recommendation. With the spring out and the delay switch bypassed (via electrical tape, high class here), the car feels like it ought to. The throttle controls the throttle, the clutch controls the clutch.
One thing especially that always bothered the hell out of me was the 3-2 downshift--it always felt like it took too long to rev up for it so I could never
quite
get it right. With the delay gone I got it perfectly, first shot, without even thinking about it.
Can't recommend this enough, honestly. Follow the links peavynation posted and do it. Tonight if you can.
