GAHH has a list of recommended installer, I called all of them, the cost various in a few hundreds, some installers just push me to replace the pastic window and want to charge me $1.3K!.

Hi, I am a newbie here. first posting.. so let me introduce myself.
Bought my 2000 cab from a Hollywood movie actor, the deal was OK, but total cost of ownership is a bit higher than planned � CEL/MAF, speeding ticket, and the top replacement (the old plastic top was falling of).
But I do enjoy the car very much everytime I drive it!
Been watching the forum for a few months now and learned a lot.

I just hope you received a top from the 'new' batch.
I was one of the first ones to buy this new top (about 2 months ago). The first top failed after a week (therma bonding betwen the canvas and the glass). GAHH was really great to work with and immedaitely sent a new top and had it replaced at their own expense. The replacement top now also failed, after a month.
GAHH is again great to deal with, but this car is my daily driver and it's just getting a nuisance.

You will know whether you have an improved top if it has some stiching about half an inch away from the glass.
Yes, I saw the pictures in your original post, mine does have two stiching around the glass about 1/2 inch away from the glass and about 1/8 inch apart. So this may be a 'new' batch.
TCR: no, it wasn't the dealer. I called around, there is only one dealer in my area that is willing to install GAHH, and it cost over $3K. GAHH has a list of recommended installer, I called all of them, the cost various in a few hundreds, some installers just push me to replace the pastic window and want to charge me $1.3K!. This one I found is more reasonable, $2440 out the door including tax.
If anyone thinking about this, I strongly recommend getting the top from the installer instead of buying online. Because you will then be covered 2 years by the installer if anything goes wrong.

Including the top (of course :-).
I have a twins. My son loves the car as well.. I bring them out from time to time with the carseat in the back.. that's why I think Carrera is so unique, can't think of other car in this class can seat the whole family.
that's why my only approves 612 when talking about f-car
i have 2 girls, and it's always fun taking them out, cruise in local road in summer night.
