Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm in the process of selling my '01 Saab 9-3 Viggen and getting an '01 C4 Coupe 996. My question: I have XM radio in my Viggen (which took some surgery and a professional installer) and I really like it. 1. Should I keep the XM Roady 2 and have it installed in my 996 C4? or 2. Is there an easier/better way of getting XM radio in an '01 996? If so: 3. What is the best way of getting XM radio in a '01 996? thanks for your input.

POST 2Original post

Welcome to Rennlist. Most will tell you that the radio in the 996 is sub par at best. So if you're not interested in keeping the car original then perhaps an aftermarket head unit that will play XM, and MP3's would be best. Rob

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you for your speedy reply. I've been taking a crash course on P-cars in this forum over the past week or so and I'm glad I've found a new online home (I previously hung out at Saabnet, for obvious reasons) My question: How hard or how involved is it to upgrade the head unit in an '01 C4? I understand it does not have the trickier setup of the '03 and up, but is there anything I should be aware of? Thank you for your time.

POST 4Original post

It's no more difficult than installing any aftermarket radio in another car. If you go the aftermarket route, keep us posted on what you decided on.

POST 6Original post

For those that put in the aftermarket radio - did you find a need to replace any/all of the speakers as well. I found a new Alpine unit that has built in XM radio and also has built in Ipod hook-ups. I am going to return my $200 Neo Ipod Adaptor and get the new $300 Alpine unit. And, it comes with free installation.

POST 7Original post

Speakers also suck... wow, I'm just full of good news today.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

At least all of these things can be done in stages
