Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

All, On my 2000 C2 with 76k miles is starting to experience a high engagement on the clutch pedal. Am I on my way to a clutch job? What has been your experiences with clutch mileage? Happy Chanukah, Merry Christmas and Happy and Healthy New Year

POST 2Original post

Clutch mileage is highly user and usage dependent. If you ride the clutch, it does not last. If you life in San Francisco, it does not last. But, at 74,000 miles and the engagement point being high, that is a sign of a worn clutch. Next you will see slippage where you stomp on the gas and the rpm goes up the speedometer does not go up. It's time.

POST 4Original post

That is a sign that the marcel spring in the clutch disk has flattened out. (replacement time) The "free play" and full engagement positioning is self adjusting and at the top. The "start of engagement" or "engagement travel" is lengthened by the marcel spring to make a smooth and controllable engagement. When the marcel spring starts to flatten, the engagement will move more toward the top of the pedal travel.
