Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

26 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I drove about 30 miles round trip real regular like and found it to be no problem. It was below freezing. Does anyone else? I wouldnt even think of driving in the snow or until the roads are 100% clear. Anyone else?

POST 2Original post

Its generally not recommended to drive in high performance summer tires when it gets into the 30s or below. Its not good for the compound of the tire and your going to lose the benefit of the grip they provide. That doesn't mean you can't but I wouldn't make it a habit. I don't have PS but on my Extreme Contacts they feel and ride like garbage once it gets into the low 40s.

POST 3Original post

Which Michelin Pilot tires? The Pilot line includes all season as well as summer tires.

Ill get back to you on that. But they drove fine. I did not speed or go on the highway mainly under 50 and they were great. Ill take a look when I get home and let you know which pilot I have. Thanks

POST 5Original post

There is literally a warning for PS for cold conditions. "Note: Tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle."

cool and good to know but I still will drive my car on dry pavement. I guess Im a risk taker. Me No Worry LOL

POST 7Original post

I run Hankooks in the summer and switch to Blizzaks for the winter. One a cold morning before I switched to my Blizzaks I found they would very easily lose traction. Not a fun feeling.

These are what I have Pilot Sport A/S 3+

POST 9Original post

I live in South Carolina but got caught in a sudden snowstorm in Pennsylvania a few years ago. My Sumitomos were scary in the snow! I grew up in the stuff and know how to drive in it, but my car was all over the road. I had about 50 miles to my destination and it was white knuckles the whole way. In hindsight I should have let some air out of my tires. How I made it I don't know. Lesson learned!

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Like I said for myself I would never drive in the snow. I also have a 2018 GMC Acadia Denali that will drive awesome in the snow with all kinds of safety sensors. Its an amazing high tech car. Last year I had tickets to a Bruins game in one of the corporate clubhouses. I didnt want to miss it. Me and my son drove 50 Mileys each way in a blizzard and felt comfortable all the way. Its amazing what these cars can do. The way they respond to what would be my mistakes to accelerating when I should. It will not react to the acceleration of it senses its to fast for that pavement. A lot more to. Great stuff.

Those are all season touring car tires. I in fact select those exact tires for my cars that I use in the snow.

have you driven in actual snow? Do you have a C4? So you would agree these are perfect for cold weather driving. I have a C2 cab so I likely wouldnt drive in the snow. So these are perfect for cold weather driving on dry pavement regardless of temperatures?

POST 13Original post

Quotes source post: 16304360

I don't put these on my Porsche, but they do go on my wife's rear wheel drive BMW convertible. And yes they are good in the cold. The older 3 version was only ok in the snow but the 3+ has been very good in the snow.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I had no idea. These were brand new when I bought the car. All I looked at was Michelin Pilot. I knew they were good quality but had no idea of there capability. This is good news to me. Thanks

You can always use Google to find great info, thats what I did and provided a link directly to Michelins website with info on the tire in question: The Pilot Sport A/S 3+ is Michelins ultimate Ultra High Performance All-Season tire combining summer levels of wet and dry grip with cold weather and snow mobility. So even those with a Porsche 996 can enjoy a Michelin performance tire that is equipped to handle cold and even snowy conditions... even you Brian.

POST 18Original post

I have these same tires. They are great in all temps. They are not great in snow or ice, but you probably wont get stuck in anything below 6 of snow, so for that, they are just enough to get along, and not a replacement for real winter tires. On the track, these tires will not be nearly as good as an extreme performance summer or track tire, such as PS2, but most folks that rarely track will be more limited by the nut behind the wheel than tire choice.

POST 19Original post

As long as it is dry summer tyres perform very well compared to winter tyres also when cold You Tube

POST 20Original post

We have the A/S3+ on our 335i xdrive. There very good in light snow but are not very good when stopping when it's icy.

POST 21Original post

I have ALWAYS put dedicated winter/snow tires on ALL my cars for many years. Makes a BIG difference. Al season means they are not ideal for ANY season. I put snows on 17" rims on my C$ and she drives like shes on rails. Snowstoirms she actually performs better than my Jeep did but not my Macan S!

Not true, all seasons work great on at least 2 seasons: spring and fall.

POST 24Original post

Drove my y2k c2 today with pss tires. It was under 30* and i didnt die. As a mater of fact i think its more fun because i can slide the rear end easier. I have driven the car in the snow/slush and it does just fine. U just have to adjust your driving style.

POST 25Original post

I run Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires on 18 Carrera IIs. It rarely gets down into the 30s around here. When it does, I try to go into work late so it is back in the 40s, or close. I have a spare set of 17 Carrera wheels the Ive thought about getting a set of all seasons for. Anybody else drive sumner tires tires when temps are in the 30s?

POST 26Original post

I've driven on Pilot Super Sports year round for the last 3 years. I work from home so I usually don't necessarily drive daily, but if I feel like going out I don't let it stop me. Driven in cold + some light snow with no issues. On snow they perform about as good as you'd expect (go very slow and leave plenty of room), but on cold pavement I'd consider them below average, but still well within the limits of driving safely as long as you drive normally and don't push it. Prior to this I had a Z4 with Goodyear Eagle F1 tires and you could forget any drive traction at all if there was the slightest bit of snow on the ground. It was a chore just to start from a stop on moderately flat road.
