This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So the passenger mirror dips when put in reverse which is a feature I haven't had since my old E34. but today I noticed it doesn't return to it's original position. I also noticed the joystick on the driver door takes a few seconds to actually engage the mirror. are these issues related? Where should I look? Happy holidays

POST 2Original post

I can't get mine to engage when i put in reverse? any advice

POST 3Original post

Mine returns, but not quite all the way. Super annoying.

POST 4Original post

Did all 996's have this or was it an option? Mine never worked and would be a nice feature to have.

I think you need to have the driver seat memory option for the mirror dip to work.

POST 6Original post

Well since I'm getting old the "Sometimers" kicks in very once in a while, and have been doing this for over 4 decades I have forgotten more than I now know. But what little I do remember is that there are different mirrors for cars with seat memory and the ones without. The mirrors with seat memory option have position sensors in them. When you are having problems with the mirror not returning to set position, the problem is always in the mirror motor its self. IF you have a PST2 or Piwis I II III you can turn the feature off in the coding, I'm not sure if Durametric will do this,(probably not). So like someone correctly mentioned above, not all 996 had dipped mirrors, only the ones with seat memory option.
