Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Im not 100% convinced I like my turbo twists dark grey. My center caps are silver. Does this mean the wheels were originally silver too? Just bought the car last month from a dealer in CO so no idea if these are the original color or not. Ive attached a pic of mine with another C4S with silver tts to compare. Thoughts?

POST 2Original post

My taste - no on the darker wheels. I'm kind of a purist, I think unless you make it a total track car, stick with original colors for the year of the car.

POST 3Original post

I like the silver so much better but it is all about what you prefer.....

POST 4Original post

Yeah dude. Coil overs and spacers looks the biz on a c4s with twists

The Porsche wheel catalog for the 996 didn't have any options for dark painted wheels. All of them were silver. Therefore, your turbo twists were obviously painted by the previous owner. I personally like the darker wheels, but you should paint the center caps to match.

Totally agree with your last point!

POST 7Original post

My bad, go back to the original color. The dark gray is not so great. Painting stock wheels different colors is ghetto . I didn’t read the post. The Oem 4s caps were not painted for whatever reason.

Thanks. I figured as much. Yep, I'm going back to stock silver when it's time for a new set of tires. The dark grey also makes the wheels appear smaller.

POST 10Original post

I also prefer silver. Darker look like dirty brake dust coated wheels. Im about to repaint my second set of wheels and Im going to go with silver.

POST 11Original post

Have you checked the back of the wheels to make sure they are the Porsche ones and not the Italian copies? the copies come in several colors including some bright colors so I see them out here every once in a while. I hate powder coat it has never held up for me... I prefer Dupont Imron..

I have not. Ill pull a wheel this weekend. What am I looking for? Some kind of Porsche stamp? Ill have to Google Imron but I am a fan of your posts. You definitely know your Pcar stuff.

POST 13Original post

I'm a generalist,, most of my life I've played with race cars of many flavors,, so a lot of it is from hard lessons.. Track guys can be total cheap a**es and I've had to recover cars from their care.. LOL

POST 14Original post

On the silver I like the stock silver look. I like those twists more than my earlier ones, it’s a good look. Personally think I might do mine is a gold or bronze color which I think would contrast well with the blue metallic.
