Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

They needed the car for a few more hours to run a complete diagnostic.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It's really perplexing, but I don't care enough to have it fixed...
I have a strange issue with the light on the PSE switch staying on at start and not going off. And the PSE is "muffled." This was happening intermittently for a week, and now stays on. Any ideas?
when you say it is muffled do you mean that it is stuck "engaged"? All the problems I've read on here were about it not engaging due to a vacuum leak. I've never seen anyone have the opposite problem. Have you looked at the linkage on both sides while someone pushes the button to see if anything is going on?
Most of the time it is engaged. Sometimes when I start the car it is off. Today it was off, and I was unable to turn it on. Then the opposite at night. I took it to the dealership for an oil change. They checked the pse issue for me as well. They tried a new switch and checked all the wiring. Everything is in order, but the problem still exists. They ruled out the switch. They needed the car for a few more hours to run a complete diagnostic.
I have a similar issue. PSE turns itself on and off at will, and its decision can't be overridden. Works fine half the time, the other half, it randomly works itself.
It also works itself into a strange half-state where the light is dim, and PSE is sometimes on, sometimes off.

Do you know that PSE engages the baffles (making the exhaust quiet) between 15Mph & 45Mph when the PSE is actually off? This is how the system is supposed to work. Due to noise laws in Switerland, the baffles re-engage at those speeds (yes, even on North American 996). You can do "a hack" to make it so that the system is either fully on or fully off.
Yeah, that's not what's going on here. My PSE light flickers, and I have no control of whether PSE is on or off, regardless of speed or how many times I push the button.
And then it will be fine a few minutes later. My guess is that the baffles are somehow gunked up and don't work themselves out of the auto-engage or auto-disengage correctly, which causes the light. But that's just a guess.
I had some work done at the dealership and they switched out the switch and the problem still existed. The light is on solid now at all times. I did the mod and removed the diode but same results: light on and muffled exhaust at all speeds. Thinking of replacing the relay. Thoughts? other things to try before I spend $200 on a relay that may-or may not-fix it?
I hate to dredge up an old thread, but my PSE has developed the same issue
then dash button has a mind of its own, and the exhaust is quieter when this is happening
i did the diode hack a year ago, so that is ruled out
OP, was there any resolution to your issue?
