Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After this complete train wreck of a thread, I just had to know: How much of a poseur are you?

POST 2Original post

I am Le Poseur De Grande - I wear my A/X helmet everywhere. It creates quite the stir in the grocery store. I suspect the bagboys are all envious of me. In all seriousness, I cringe when I see my neighbor leaving the wing up on his 996 Cab that rarely moves from his driveway. I know there are legitimate reasond to leave it up, but this guy has none of them to fall back on. Poser.

POST 3Original post

I don't know....I keep it clean. like to revv the engine...take corners hard...wish I was rich enough for 20" and Ferrari's.......know where the spoiler button is..use it when I clean the car (left it up once and got scolded by my 11 year old son)

POST 4Original post

pink polo shirt, white jacket. Hang around with a guy named Tubbs. ...that being said, it took me two months to figure out where the switch for the spoiler was.

POST 5Original post

I'm gonna buy a tight-black-leather jacket that has a big Porsche Emblem on the back, I'll buy Porsche socks, wear a Porsche cap (Tilted to the side) and a nice Porche watch and money clip to top it off. I'm NO Poser, I'm Porsche-boy!

POST 6Original post

Hey, watch it! I wear the hat occasionally (I prefer the M Power hat, though - the Porsche one is white and makes me look even more pale!)!

POST 7Original post

I guess I'd be a track poseur. I do want it to look nice so I got WORK 19s that I still like after a year. They have a chrome lip so they are a little bit bling. Nothing would make me happier than slapping 315/30-19 MPSCs on the back though. $500 per tire is a little steep for me. I also have race seats, harness bar, JICs, H&R sways, R-compounds etc. I took 3rd in a time trial earlier this year, my first attempt. I try to remember to force the wing up before I roll out on the track. No need to have it going up and down at Infineon. I have put the wing up for fun just occasionally. I don't see how you're a poser if you drive a Porsche Carrera. Poser is putting a GT3 emblem on your car when it's not.

POST 8Original post

I "think" I could afford a Ferrari but would never ever buy one as it's too flashy. I live in a small-town and the P-Car is creating enough of a stir as it is. My wife drive a special edition Range Rover and nobody knows what that is. I think the ultimate anti-poseur car is a RUF, looks like a Porsche, smell like a Porsche but eat all Italian Sport cars for breakfast. I am a little tiny bit obsessive about my car but my therapist says I might eventually be fine after the electro-shock sessions.......

POST 9Original post

I'm proud of my car's (this and all the others) history, and try to keep the car clean (it's going to be tough with the new color). We were taking pix by the lake yesterday, and when I swerved to avoid a poorly aimed yard sprinkler, my wife asked, "you're not turning in to one of " those people" are you? It's more that I'm too lazy to wash it all the time, LOL! I have a few polo's but I'll only wear logos that are tone on tone. My favorite cap is one withe the simple 996 "swoop" on it. I try to be proud, without bragging. A guy at work has the leather varsity jacket with the full-color chevy racing flags, that looks like a 'vette threw up on him

POST 11Original post

I've tracked the 996 and it was fun, only 1 second off my winning time at Putnam in the 993 and the 996 was on RA1's not Hoosiers! I now have the NASA track record at Putnam in TTB. Door dings do irritate me. The only P car clothing I have comes from track events. A friend gave me one of the Varsity jackets, which I will wear to work in the winter. Ohio does get cold. If I was still married to my ex I guess I could wear it to bed. However, a new factory MKII aero kit will arrive in my driveway tomorrow to go with the Tec roll bar. Oh God, I'm turning into a... I can't bring myself to say the word.

POST 12Original post

LWTF Sorry, I don't get how leaving the tail spoiler up is a poser. What is he trying to pose as?

POST 13Original post

Nice, my third was in TTB with NASA at Infineon. I was a ways off the record since Patrick Lindsey owns that one. I believe his car was profiled in the Super Street recently or Euro Tuner. Are you going to Nationals? Isn't it soon? Are you breaking out the hoosiers for nationals or sticking with the RA-1s?

POST 15Original post

I signed up for the Nationals but I won't be making it. I'll be breaking in my new titanium bolts and rods, spine varity, about then instead of new Hoosiers

POST 16Original post

Don't worry Luis, there are many ways to be a Porsche poseur. For example, how often do you track that GT3? If you do, are you beating pretty much everyone else who isn't driving a GT3, apart from, oh, maybe Cup Cars? But alas, all of those other questions are really irrelevant, because you can't help but be a poseur because your GT3 is, yup, you got it, water-cooled. After all, the last real Porsche was the '73 ROW 911 RS. Sorry pal.

POST 17Original post

I have had it for 4 months and done 2 track events with it. Mmmmm 73 Rs. Definately one of my top 3.

POST 18Original post

The wing button is not connected to anything in mine, the flying taco on the back does not move, so total poseur becuase I don't drive fast enough to let the wing do its thing. Every since the car got scratched its been washed a grand total of 0 times, it looks absolutley horrible, people actually ask me why i don't clean it, honest anwser having to much fun driving it.

POST 19Original post

Please don't kill the messanger as this may start a new debate, but why did they go from a bi-plane wing on the GT3 to the Taco Wing?

POST 20Original post

Let me clarify that just sprouting some wing doesn't make you a poser. But here is an example of what does qualify: One of my other neighbors (yes, we have a butt-load of Porsches in this neighborhood - an average of one per every other block) has a red Cab. He refrains from leaving the wing up, however - he has a Carrera GT logo. I'll post a pic. I had to back up and make sure I wasn't seeing things the first time I spotted it, but there it was. My wife spotted it - she said "I thought you said the Carrera GT looks like the one at Champion Porsche" (they keep one tethered to the sales floor) This one moves even less than the white one referred to earlier. By the way, that guy is ok and isn't a poser, he probably just hit the button by accident when he was putting more mothballs in the car. It's rare to see it out from under its cover. Kinda sad.

POST 22Original post

Does the following make me a poseur? I never thought it could happen to me, but as I walked up to the counter at the local Starbucks, six stunning Georgetown coeds walked in behind me. I discretely, but confidently, took my keys out of my pocket and placed them on the counter with the Porsche crest on the key fob facing up. The coeds all swooned. One asked, "so, is that your beautiful 996 out in the lot?" She said, "I couldn't help but notice that you must be a real man because it is not a cab or a tip, and it has the fixed Porsche spoiler and complete carbon package." And I replied, "yeah, so whatcha want me to do baby boo." She said that they all wanted to find out whether what they say about Porsche drivers is true. I said "it is indeed. I mean, the link between wealth and virility is obvious . . .just compare birth rates in Germany and, oh, say some country where they drive Toyotas, like Mexico, er, ummm, never mind . . . Yeah, I am all that and more." So, she asked whether I would go back to her place with her and her 5 roomates. I said sure. It is a good thing that I have a Targa, which has a hatchback, or I would never have been able to fit them all in the Porsche. As it was, one of them had to ride on the hood ala Whitesnake as I drove my bevy of virginal maidens through Georgetown. From the locals to the tourists, all were genuflecting as I drove down Wisconsin Avenue through the heart of Georgetown. We got to their place, and a small argument broke out between the girls about who I would help "loosen her buttons" first. I stopped the argument by pointing out that I was more than man enough for them all. Then the fun began . . . until that infernal beeping of the alarm . . . .

POST 24Original post

Damn,..hit that snooze button QUICK, and let's hear the rest....

POST 25Original post

When I lowered my shirt and they saw the Porsche Crest with "Porsche 4 Ever" tatooed across my chest and six pack, they melted into a pool of libidinous barely legal virginal flesh ready to satisfy my every wish merely due to the fact that I had chosen the right brand of car. . . . . . beep . . . beep . . . . beep

POST 26Original post

Damn, I knew I should have bought a targa,.. My tatoo that read's "porsche, there is no substitute,..have a nice day", is in a more private area, ...there is infact room for the entire encyclopedia I would imagine

POST 27Original post

TD in DC, funny you say that. Same thing happens to me all the time. Women just hop in at the lights when I have my cd cranked up to deafening levels as they think I am extra cool, not only because of the porsche but also that thumping bass. I also wind down the window and have my arm hanging out with my rolex attached and rev extra hard at the red traffic lights to show them I have arrived. Not once have I ever been called a ******.
