I like taking guys like you for your first ride around a track so I can laugh with the rest of the insecure trackies as you go to the can to change your underwear.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In a post below about leaving the spoiler up making you a poser, someone insinuated that driving a Porsche with a TIP makes you a poser (in that you are pretending to drive a sports car). I drive a Porsche with a TIP, and I can assure you that I am not posing as anything. I am also a certified PCA Driver's Ed instructor, not to mention a past WERA Grand National Champion for Formula 3 (125GP). Personally, I prefer the TIP for all of my driving except real racing - and to the guy who insinuated that driving a TIP is posing, I say driving a Porsche, manual shift or otherwise, and pretending that you know something about driving or "racing", now THAT is posing. Driving a car on the street that is meant for track duty, now THAT is posing. Anyone else feel this way? 2002 C2 AT arctic silver/black, driven daily - rain, snow or shine

POST 2Original post

In case anyone missed the post referred to above...it was me who did the insinuating that a Porsche with a TIP is not a true sports car. Boy, there sure are some insecure people on this board. I wonder what the next "feel good" poll will be?

POST 3Original post

Realist, Man, you are taking the tip thing too seriously. Honestly, who cares what anyone else thinks about you . . . or your ride. If I wanted a tip, I would buy a tip without regard to what anyone else might think about me. Also, I read all of the posts in that thread to be tongue-in-cheek. Lighten up Francis It's all good. If you are happy, that is all that really matters . . .

POST 4Original post

Okay, I have researched the Poser Profile in depth and here is the official results: There is the passive poser, advanced poser, acute poser and critical poser. Take notes: 1: Passive Poser: One who leaves his rear wing in an upward position for the intention of impressing some one at the country club. 2: Advanced Poser: One who purchases performance exaust "because it sounds cool". 3: Acute level Poser: One who buys cross drilled, slotted, Brembo Big Brake kit, lowers car, puts on PSS9's, cold air intake, etc. and enters into a clean car contest. 4: Critical level Poser: One who has a red 1995 4cyl. Ford Probe and puts a three element aluminum wing on the rear trunk lid. Any questions?

POST 5Original post

What if you buy the performance exhaust because it gives you a better sense of what's happening with th engine while you're on the track?

POST 6Original post

Was there a performance software ungrade involved? If there was, and you didn't get it because you just wanted just the sound, I'm afraid your in the advanced stage of this disease. However, if on the other hand, you DID get the software upgrade to go along with it, then the question would have to be turned over to our panel of experts.

POST 7Original post

Unless you buy the new 997tt in Tip, it's faster 0-60 than it's manual counterpart.

POST 8Original post

But, it is not faster on the ring BWWAHHHHAAAHHHAAAHHHHA Actually, I don't really care

POST 10Original post

Why bother with a performance exhaust if you are only interested in sound. I have several CD's I play while driving....each with a different recording of exhaust notes. I have Ferrari, American Big Block, and Moped exhasut sounds. I just play them while driving around town. As easy to turn off and on as PSE.

POST 11Original post

frikikin poser with your poser cds. I don't even have a stereo because I am a real man. Hell, in order to reduce unsprung weight I removed my brakes! You don't need brakes if you are a real man because brakes only slow you down. All you need is the gas pedal. I want to go fast.

POST 12Original post

So if you are all of them you are a PAAC Poser!

POST 13Original post

If the car is not a black aero, YOU ARE A POSER, plus I've got all kinds of electric supercharged power with super terrific weight savings amounting to a 2500 lb car. Pretty much, you suck.

POST 14Original post

One might say that a real poser would be the Nissan 350Z.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes Fanatic, this poser post was in response to your attitude laden post on the wing up or down thread. I suspect you are as much of an ******* as Addict. I like taking guys like you for your first ride around a track so I can laugh with the rest of the insecure trackies as you go to the can to change your underwear. You're the guys who sit on your sofa watching races and discussing how so-and-so wimped out in the braking zone, as if you could do better yourself. I suspect you're all about posing - your manual shift sportscar says you are a real man.

POST 17Original post

I figured we would get you to flip out.. Lighten up and enjoy life a little. We're just having fun with you. Most of us are secure in who we are and don't have a need to pose.

POST 18Original post

Honestly, did you read what you just wrote before you hit send? Whenever someone makes a joke about TIP drivers do you always respond with such righteous indignation? Someone please prescribe a chill pill for this canadien.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You guys are a real nice bunch - I suppose that's why people automatically like me when I drive up in my Porsche ;-)

POST 20Original post

Sorry have to agree whenever you write an angry post/ email always let it sit for an hour then go back and read it. I have the 6 speed but what the heck if I had a tip my wife could drive it. BLUF buy what you want and be happy you are in a Porsche and not a Neon.

POST 21Original post

That's the motoring advice equivalent of "Don't call your ex-girlfriend when it's 2:00 AM and your drunk"....

POST 22Original post

Oh c'mon take it easy man,..who the hell cares if you drive a tip or stick,...besides we all know the real poser is the one who needs a supercharger to look good on the track.

POST 24Original post

Hey, I thought you'd say it's the AWD/PSM and 3500lbs. that's the real poser,.....thankyou for not being your usual self TD

POST 25Original post

damn, i was going to start a new thread to see if my tip tranny is good for super charger, after all, 996 tt is using the same tip tanny as regular 996, right?

POST 26Original post

Oh double SNAP. I can't think of a worse insult than someone thanking you for not being your usual self

POST 27Original post

How meanie of me,..I should've known how easily you get offended TD,...Yeah, right

POST 28Original post

Yeah, I am crying over here with my delicate ego

POST 29Original post

Poser.... Alot of discussion about this. Hmm lets look it up... poseur: a person who habitually pretends to be something he/she is not model: a person who poses for a photographer or painter or sculptor a particularly difficult or baffling question or problem wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn I think it is a Poser (difficult question)... Do Porsche drivers want to look good? Do they all have different levels of taste and refinement as well as different driving and performance needs? Track ****** to concourse queens? My answer: Who the F*#$@ cares

POST 30Original post

I don't think you're the one with the delicate ego, eh?
