I went the cheap route last time and replaced the fronts to kumoh as I was planning on having all four kumoh very soon.
Leading evidence: 'Replace fronts' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend by p' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. I ran michelin front and pirelli rear for 12 months with no problems.

I think it's recommended by P to have all the same brand as well as the "N" rating.

reason that my tires are different front and rear...I had the P for 1 week and got a 6 inch screw in my rear tire......so I had to replace both, because different tires in the back didn't seem like a good plan...but the front tires were fine.....and I know I am going to change them to 19" (with rims of course!) very soon..probably black rims!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Sorry if this has been covered before but I couldn't find it under search.
I need new rear tires on my C4S (fronts have plenty of tread left) but I was thinking of moving away from the pirellis to Michelin PS2's. Any negatives to running different brands front and rear until the fronts wear out and I get front PS2's?
thanks
Check out the manufacter's specs relating to actual diameter. What's it for a PS2 and what is it for your Pirelli's mounted on the same width rim? If it's a big difference (more than tire wear) then it's probably not a great idea for the AWD.
I went the cheap route last time and replaced the fronts to kumoh as I was planning on having all four kumoh very soon. The pzeros had life left in the rear so I drove them until ready for replacement. I didn't notice much difference to all four kumohs now. The cheaper side of me took hold and I just didn't want to throw away the rear tires for matching sake. No harm ever came of it so I'd say go for it.
I really think unless you're driving your car at the limit (and spare me the limit talk if you have to make an evasive maneuvre in an emergency high speed turn), different sets of fronts and rears shouldn't be that big a deal. Now, Dell, before you chime in and to be fair, I'd never do it.
So much for my credibility, eh?
Even if they start at the same "diameter" the front and rear tires will not stay that way for long as the rears wear out twice as fast as the fronts.......
I have mixed tire brands, several times, and have seen no effect. I am not advising you to do it, I am just reporting my experiences.
Ideally you want the same tire make and model all the way around, but it won't hurt to mix it up for a little while. I ran michelin front and pirelli rear for 12 months with no problems.
Because my front and rears wear out at different times I contemplated getting S02-A's on the fronts then when the Pilot Sport on the rears wore out, I would replace them with the S02's... in the end I *****'d out and just ordered the PS.
I have pirelli's in the front and Michelins in the back, but don't have a c4......I don't think the car knows the difference! as long as all tires are in good condition.....you might feel the difference in driving, but only when cornering hard..or tracking like Dell does...don't forget races are won on tires!!

I didn't think it would be a problem. I put the left front tire on the left front, the right front tire on the right front, and so on. No one corner has the same tire as another corner.
Gotcha Dell.
I just noticed that the pirellis are about $80(each) cheaper then michelin, I always thought they cost the same so i was going to move to PS2's since everyone raves about them. So I might just stick with pirelli since it will be cheaper. $160 may not seem like alot, but I just spent a bunch of money on my house and business supplies and am feeling the crunch for a few months, so its just not the right time for new tires, but definitely don't want to drive on bald ones.
thanks for the advice everyone!
