Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. David, I have a set of 200 cell cats for my 996.1 that I bought used but are not correct for my car.

I want to replace my cat by-pass system on my '02 996 C2 with a 200 cell (or similar) sport cat system.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

They look good and I really wish they worked for me but I took way too long to try them out on my car and they have been sitting on the shelf for over a year now.
I want to replace my cat by-pass system on my '02 996 C2 with a 200 cell (or similar) sport cat system. My current system sounds great on the track, but is a bit too loud for the street.
What are some recommended brands to consider beside the usual suggestion of Fabspeed.
Thanks.
There are choices at Topgear.co.uk to peruse. I have the straight pipe 200 cells. I like them, with one caveat. I bought mine two years ago. My production version has a bank 2 post-cat O2 bung that’s poorly placed. I had to use extenders for passing readiness. Even with the extender that bung is too far for the standard wire. Sound, quality and price are very good. Customer service is exceptional.
I put on Top Gear cats 2 years ago and they have been great. Go over to 911uk.com in the 996 forum and they have a Black Friday special they might extend to you. Some years they have done group buys as well.
Those top gear prices are hard to beat if they are good quality (not sure on shipping costs though). I keep debating on brand and cross over or straight.
+1 for Top Gear. I bought a complete system this year for my 2001 996 C2 Cab with Tiptronic off their website - headers, 200 cell X-pipe sport cats (stock tube size), "mild" sport mufflers and tail pipes. They shipped the whole lot quickly to me in Canada. No issues with O2 sensor locations or mounting. Only issue I had was that the tailpipes they sent were the wrong length and I ended up returning them. I bought ones off ebay that work perfectly. Very happy with the system after about 4000 km. If anything, it is a bit on the quiet side but nice for cruising with the top down :-)
I went with the Top Gear UK X-Pipe with 200 cell cats and larger diameter piping. Couldn't be happier, startup is incredible and driving is equally great with no drone.

+1 on Topgear products. I have their 200 cell cats and headers on my '99C2 with FSI 3.6 rebuild. I installed all 4 universal O2s at the same time. I have somewhere north of 5k miles with no problems or CELs on my street driven car. . The cost is a fraction of the more often mentioned brand. I just don't see what could be inferior, unless it shows up on track use. My car is street driven. Here is the link to the post from when I installed them with photos.

David, I have a set of 200 cell cats for my 996.1 that I bought used but are not correct for my car. They are close but not the right ones.
(One side barely fits and the other side is off by 2+ inches. Also the O2 sensor positions are wrong for my 3.4 motor.)
Since you have a 996.2 they might fit your setup. Do you have the original cats to your car to compare fitment?
If they work for you I would be willing to offer them to you at a decent price since I cant use them at all.

I live and work in the Chicago area, if your ever come this way let me know and we can meet up. If you want any measurements let me know and I will take care of it.
Thanks,
