Suggestion
I intend to use a "float-charger" which are supposed to be smarter than trickle chargers as that is best for the battery.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I know 10 weeks is not such a long time, but is there anything i should do with the car before i go? Things i am thinking about
:
1. Tire flat spots
2. Gas tank
3. Oil???
4. Batter disconnect?
5. Anything else?
any tips or advice will be great. thanks.
or is 10 weeks nothing and i should leave it as it is?
Your remote key entry wont work, and you'll need to open the car with the key. Other than that I think you should be fine. I wouldn't do anything drastic.
inflate ur tires above normal and disconnect the battery (and ur hood latch to make sure u don't lock the hood by accident) and u'll be fine. where are you going?
be happy you don't live in Europe.....my parent (the Netherlands) pay 1.50 (Euro is about $1.70US) per LITER!!! So they pay about 6 bucks a gallon (give or take a couple of pennies!!)
According to Prev owner of our 2000 as well as, I believe, the owners manual the battery will be used up by the electronics in a few days. Disconnecting batt does mean the hood latch is disabled AND the radio will go into it's "I've been stolen" mode and you will need to find the code in your papers to reset it. I intend to use a "float-charger" which are supposed to be smarter than trickle chargers as that is best for the battery. Oh yes, there is a connection stud in the engine compartment to jump or simply power up the car if the battery is disconnected. jVm
You can leave them for weeks - no problems.
trickle charger for the battery might be the only thing I'd do
Or, leave the car unlocked if it's garaged, that way the alarm system isn't active, and you don't get the same battery drain.
The quotes that your car can only stand for a few days before the battery dies are wrong - unless you have an electrical fault or leave the lights on!
Chris.
Yes, tell me about it. Am in The Netherlands now to see some family and I just filled up my crap rental for about $100!!! Talking about sticker shock!! But at least it is in the sixties and raining all day...
Excellence magazine had an article in a recent issue about the danger of storing a Porsche for a long time with an ethanol blended gas in the gas tank. The fear is that the alcohol will separate from the gasoline over time, and that could cause damage to your gas tank and fuel lines.
I stored my Boxster in my garage for 5 winters, each time was for 3 to 4 months. Aside from an oil change, which you should not need to do, I did the following...
- Inflated the tires to 45-50 PSI to minimize flatspotting
- I filled the gas tank (oh, and I added gas stabilizer)
- Plugged in a Porsche Battery Maintainer (the door closed on the thin lead wire from the transformer with no damage to the weatherstripping)
- Put the lightweight (indoor type) Porsche car cover on the car
Every spring the car started on the first turn of the ignition key and the original battery was still working when I traded the car after 5 years and 3 months.
