I have watched the tire guys use the torque wrench and tighten until they hear "2 clicks." The instructions on my new wrench dont illude to this at all.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I about to make my first lug nut removal/install. I have watched the tire guys use the torque wrench and tighten until they hear "2 clicks." The instructions on my new wrench dont illude to this at all. So is it 1 click or 2? Thanks

POST 2Original post

You will know it when you hit the proper torque. There will be a sudden "give" of torque and it will click. At that point you are set. 1 click or 2 is negligible (if in fact your torque wrench continues to click after specified torque is reached). Most just click one time.

POST 4Original post

BTW, NEVER EVER use a torque wrench in the reverse direction. Always keep a breaker bar handy.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Spring style and I did get a breaker bar, thanks!

POST 6Original post

It's one click only. If you continue pushing after the first click without releasing pressure you will continue tightening the bolt but never hear a second click! What you see mechanics doing is tightening 'till they hear/feel the click, releasing pressure and doing it again "just to be sure".
