Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This is a comparison to the posting: How old were you when you owned your first Porsche I think it's important to find out "How old were you when you OWNED" your first Porsche. Yes, Pink Slips in hand.......... I'll start: 30 (2 yrs ago), lucky for me I was able to purchase it in full..... Mine was a B59 from Brumos in FL...... -Eli

POST 3Original post

28 .. picking it up on saturday fingers crossed ....

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Pink in hand? Check out my number of post on this one: 911

POST 5Original post

31. Perhaps a more interesting question would be how old were you when you were first pwn3d by a 911.

POST 6Original post

yeah, I agree. When you owned a 911 as this is the 996 section. For me 35 and I am 35 now. 6 months into it now and 17,000 kms

POST 7Original post

Well, I am 23 now, and I am picking up my first 996 tomorrow if all goes well. I'll have a loan to pay off for a few years, but I guess that makes me pretty young for the 996 board.

POST 8Original post

27, always pay cash for cars. if i don't have enough cash, buy used instead of new.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I can't stand car payments either...... but I might puchase my a truck on payments for some sort of tax reasons..... -Eli

POST 10Original post

all my buddies started leasing cars now for tax reason. maybe i am too old-school

POST 11Original post

26 If i can get a car loan at 5%, then I will defintely get the cheap money and keep liquidity rather than paying outright

POST 12Original post

First 911 23 First 996 33 My rule, never take a loan out on something that depreciates.

POST 13Original post

but if you pay 5% to the bank and can make 10-15% on the money you would spend on the car?......

POST 14Original post

I agree, pay cash. I did not really start making big bucks until I was 29 before that a porsche was just a dream.

POST 15Original post

but you can't do that arb riskfree... 5Y loan @ 5.00% vs 5Y UST @ 4.78, is -0.22% better way to pay for your car is borrow from 0% credit cards, invest risk free @ 4.78%

POST 16Original post

First 996 age 33 First 944 age 26 First Porsche age 1-2 (toy car) :-D

POST 33Original post

36, just picked it up last week. Yes, pink in hand! -Mike

POST 34Original post

36 IMHO, we ought to pay the car in cash. I didn't want to buy a P-car until I could comfortably pay for one without financing or leasing. If I had to invest less in order to buy a sports car, I would be making a very bad financial mistake. The opportunity cost of leasing is terrible for me since I'd rather spend the $ I would have spent on a sports car on equipment, labor, or advertising for my company. I have some business associates who would lease an S-class or P-car for clients but daily drive a Camry for tax reasons. IMHO, I think they are neither enjoying their nice ride nor getting the most out of their $. I love my '01 carrera but I also see it as an expensive toy--one that has put a smile on my face since the day I bought it. Cheers.

Is it just me or does it seem that all of the younger owners on this thread seem to be "Registered Users" as opposed to fully paid "Rennlist Members" Come on now boys, membership is only $17! Nut up! Brad B 41 2003 Turbo X50 (3rd P-Car)

POST 41Original post

I purchased the car when I was 22. I think I will be able to pay off the car by the end of this year, but we'll see. Will be 25 by then. If I didn't have the bloody m5, I would have been an official PIF member by now... I hope to join the ranks of the elite PIF crew one day

POST 42Original post

What is up with all the hassling here? Every 10 post there is someone asking for membership. What does this post have to do with membership?

POST 44Original post

Djantlive - What does this post have to do with membership? How about supporting a site you obviously use a great deal...you've posted over One Thousand times and don't feel the need to support Rennlist with a membership? The only reason you can even enjoy a site like this is due to the financial support of vendors and users.

POST 45Original post

A bad dinner can cost more than $17.00. $17.00 is super cheap for a quality site like this.
