Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just wondering if anyone's ever heard of this dealership???
Any comments, past experience?
I've been speaking with the manager there (Phillipe) who has a car that came in off of a lease from Porsche Financial.

What do you think a fair price would be? I'm thinking around $41,500.00 with a clean PPI.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Bob
Jon...how do figure that mileage is high? 12K a year for 5 years is 60K and the car has 59K. Sounds about right. Some will argue that a P-Car should have less miles per year than the avg car. I disagree if the car is a DD.
Agreed with what you are saying. 12k sounds about right for a DD, but the p-car market is flooded with fairly low mileage cars. On a 3-series, I wouldn't think twice about 60k being high, but on a 02 996, it is somewhat on the high side IMO. Hell, my 00 came with 7k miles and I bought it in 04. It's actually pretty sad how bad some p-cars are garage queens... whats the point in buying them? But makes it a great buy for the next person
41.5 does seem low and especially after seeing those Edmund and KBB numbers, zman and Dell are right on the money.... rt69, I'd definitely check-in to see if everything is legit (PPI-wise) before purchasing. good luck
i just sold my 03 coupe with 24k for $48500.00...... the market is soft boys. check all the values you want and listings at cars.com/atrader etc. and it should be in the mid 50's but not in the real world. the car was very very clean with no issues and a warranty....go figure....
I'm also seriously looking at an 01 coupe he is selling. I went and drove it last week.
about the dealer itself:
It's a very small operation a small garage with 4 Porsches inside (and a jack?). Not open to the public (buy appointment only). In talking with Phillipee, I felt as if he was hiding something. I noticed some paint bubbles along the rear 1/4 panel (by the side rocker). He claims the rocker was painted after it was installed. But then he said the rockers were factory installed.???? Very confusing. He also installed an aftermarket sound system even though it came with the upgraded radio and changer.
But the price seems right ($36,900 w/51K miles) and it's very clean. Still considering it (if I get the truth out of him). The carfax shows nothing wrong (for whatever that's worth).
Spikes, glad to hear you sold it. I called you a couple of times but I could not sell my M Roadster to buy yours, therefore I never made it out to see it. I ended up trading my M for an 04 with 36k miles and I got it for $54,250. Yes, the market is soft.
Very shady dealership. Very shady city. 996's are a dime a dozen down here in S. FL., but most have been ragged to the bone by the 15-yr. old Too Fast - Too Furious crowd.
The carpet will be hiding a thousand ancient vomit stains (as well as other body fluids), the leather will have endured ten thousand hours of S. FL. direct sunlight, and the motor will have been overrevved beyond the CPU's ability to keep count.
But the bones of a 996 are always good. If the price is right you can't go wrong. Do expect they will be making up for that short sell on the back end with financing for sure; so bring cash or arrange financing beforehand.
Otherwise they'll have you signing for a $70K '02 before you know what hit you. They are very good.
I looked in S. FL. for quite some time before I finally gave up and flew to Chicago. Glad I did.
rt, I hate to admit this, but I have no clue as to how to access a PM. Lemme know the address of this place and I'll drive by there today. FWIW, there are quite a few "resellers" here in S. Florida with what look like great P-cars, but on closer inspection, all too many have a bazillion miles on the clock. Any firm that offers to lease a pre-owned P-car tends to be a bit suspect (at least in this neighborhood).
Don't worry - I SWEAR I won't buy it out from under you, I am still building my P-Car fund adn I am - at last count, at 34.457% of what I need to get on the road.
He doesn't even have the car in his possession (yet, supposedly it's coming from Porsche Financial) AND he wanted $5000.00 USD as a deposit WIRED to his account before I could do the PPI. Does this seem a bit exorbitant for a deposit? I think so, but FYI the address is 14 NE 9th Street, Ft. Lauderdale.
The search continues...
Move on. Getting that large a deposit for a car he doesn't posess to get a PPI? That's insane! You should never have to give a deposit before a PPI anyway.
$5K just to do a PPI??? That's nuts!
I knew we had crooks down here, but this kind of behaviour would embarass most of them.
Good luck and hang in there.
Sounds to me like if he gets a buyer, he'll THEN purchase the car and sell it for a profit. My guess is this car is currently available somewhere else, being sold by someone else.
I don't suppose he'll give you the VIN number?
