Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

I don't know if this is still true, but at the very least until a few years ago, cars in Europe were almost all 1 year warranties, and the UK has a law that adds a year (also, at least until a couple years ago again not sure if still true, in Italy you basically had to buy a car without ever test driving it...could you image if someoen tried that here?).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My C4 porsche is just over 2 years old and I am a bit unclear about the warranty as I bought it in germany, all this docs are in German. So standard is 2 years right? That expired a few weeks back. Also anything on the car have an extended warranty?

POST 2Original post

As I understand it, the warranty in Europe IS 2 years. In the US, it is 4. Sorry. As for extended, you probably have to go aftermarket. Good luck.

POST 3Original post

i never understood why us warranty is always longer than anywhere else in the world. is that due to competition? us cars also are fairly low compared to many other countries. many countries charge 100% tax which jacks up prices 2x

POST 4Original post

Yup, it's competition/market powers. Over here imagine what people would say abotu a 2 year warranty. Since the car companies can't get away with it, they are foruced to offermore.

POST 5Original post

2 reasons I can see: 1. Our legal system will not allow anything less! 2. We buy ALOT of cars here and PAG doesn't want to bite the hand that feeds it!

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

kia advertising a 5 year warranty now in europe but yuk do not want one of those. Good marketing ploy though. So bummer my warranty is gone . I hope I do not join the rms club.

POST 7Original post

Are you saying the the Porsche warranty is only 2 years??? I assumed it was 4/50,000 just like most german cars (MB, BMW). Can you get an extended warranty from Porsche? Aftermarket? Are they any good? I got an extended warranty from Continental for my MB and have to say it is not worth the paper it is written on, so far I tried to use it 3 times and everytime the parts were not covered (elec modules and coils). I am assuming it is expensive to pay to have anything done by the dealer?

POST 8Original post

It's 4 years in the US, it's 2 years in Europe (where MB and BMW are 2 or 1, I foget which).
