I would recommend relisted it on BAT with no reserve after all the things are fixed.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This car just popped up on Craigslist. I'm not the current or the former owner, but I briefly tried to help the 2nd owner sell it last year.
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto...986528651.html
There are a few discrepancies in the Craigslist ad that I wanted to make the community aware of:
1) The car is on it's 3rd owner, not the 2nd as stated in the ad. The current owner has only owned the car for a couple of months. It looks like he did the water pump and rear tires and a few other things the car needed when I was trying to sell it.
2) The IMS was not changed when the clutch was done by the 2nd owner a couple of years ago. I spoke to the mechanic in San Ramon that did the clutch - the 2nd owner did not keep the invoice, and the shop was not able to provide one. If you are interested in the car, ask for the receipt showing the IMS was done, - unless the seller did this in the last 4 months or so, he won't have a invoice to show you.
3) The car has been in a significant accident - it ran off the road, and hit something on the left front ($17K repair bill). The damage was professionally repaired to a high standard, and the car has a clean title.
I'm not trying to sabotage the sale, rather I'm providing the 996 community with objective information correcting some omitted or incorrect details in the ad. I also remember the car was quite fast / peppy for a 996.
Here is the listing on BringaTrailer when I was trying to sell it for the previous owner:

I'm afraid this person is going to have a very tough sell with this car outside of BAT. The fact that it was involved in an accident that required $17,000 worth of repair, has experienced over $7,000 in additional electrical repair as a result of rodents, and is currently experiencing a CEL among other things. Look, it's like this... the cabriolets are great but have a much limited buyer pool. You add a wreck into the equation along with a CEL, then you've scared off most of the buyers. Personally, if this was my car, I'd repair the cosmetic problems (those are easy) myself and get the CEL remedied. Find out more about the accident. Does he have pictures of the damage? Obviously, it wasn't that bad because airbags weren't deployed, but since it's a Porsche, you pay a lot more for paint and body repair. I would recommend relisted it on BAT with no reserve after all the things are fixed. Let it go. let it goooooooooo
All good advice. Just to be clear for everyone, this is not my car. My only association with it was I tried to sell it last year for the 2nd owner. After it didn't hit the reserve on BaT, I ended my consignment agreement with the seller, (owner #2) who subsequently sold the car to the current owner, owner #3, who is now selling the car on Craigslist. Owner #3, to his credit, appears to have addressed a couple of issues that the car had when #2 owned it, specifically the water pump and rear tire replacement, which is good. What is not good however, is the seller has made an inaccurate statement (IMS replacement) and omission (the accident) in his Craigslist posting. The rodent thing is no big deal and it was repaired at a Porsche dealer. This could be a nice car for someone, but they should know what they are buying, specifically concerning the IMS. To my knowledge and research when I was representing the car, the IMS has not been replaced. If the current owner replaced it during his 4-month ownership, he should be able to provide paperwork on it. If he is claiming that it was done by the prior owner, he is incorrect.
Not only that, but there are multiple misrepresentations in the ad. The current owner is the 3rd owner not the 2nd. The car has been in an accident, and the IMS bearing was not replaced when the clutch was done.
In California, the seller is required to supply a smog test that passes. A CEL is an automatic fail so the car cannot legally be sold in California. If you bought this car and it does not pass smog, you have the law on your side to cancel the sale and get all your money back.
This car is sale-proof.
If you are looking for a C4S Cab drop me a PM. I am thinking about getting a Cayene eHybrid and would need the garage slot the 996 occupies so i can plug it in.
