1) after the window reaches its highest position while being raised it automatically lowers itself about 4-5" (this is one of the "odd behaviors" that occurred before I installed a new regulator); visible in video 1
Leading evidence: 'passenger door latch and interior door handle microswitch' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'passenger door latch and interior door handle microswitch' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Install regulator)' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Replaced my passenger window regulator ('99 C2) the other day after it had been making the classic steel-cable-screeching noises and exhibiting odd behaviors.

All the while, the central locking has never worked for me (gives me a double honk every time I press the button on the dash to unlock the doors), which I thought was due to a weak driver's latch, but now I'm thinking it's multifactorial.

3) after reconnecting the interior handle microswitch to the doorcard the window did not drop; however, pulling the interior cable did result in the window dropping 1/4" (but then raised back up when the cable was released and then the window dropped 5"--this is seen in video 2)
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

The installation of the OEM part went straightforward enough, but when testing functionality before re-installing the door's components, I noticed a few oddities.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

All the while, the central locking has never worked for me (gives me a double honk every time I press the button on the dash to unlock the doors), which I thought was due to a weak driver's latch, but now I'm thinking it's multifactorial.
Replaced my passenger window regulator ('99 C2) the other day after it had been making the classic steel-cable-screeching noises and exhibiting odd behaviors. The installation of the OEM part went straightforward enough, but when testing functionality before re-installing the door's components, I noticed a few oddities. Starting with attempting to reprogram the limits of the window's 'new' raised and lowered positions by holding down the passenger interior window switch...
1) after the window reaches its highest position while being raised it automatically lowers itself about 4-5" (this is one of the "odd behaviors" that occurred before I installed a new regulator); visible in video 1
a) I was sometimes able to reproduce this action by somewhat forcibly latching the door with a screwdriver when the window was fully raised
b) also sometime reproduced when pulling on the interior door cable after locking the latch with a screwdriver
2) window would not drop at all when the exterior handle was pulled to actuate the exterior microswitch
3) after reconnecting the interior handle microswitch to the doorcard the window did not drop; however, pulling the interior cable did result in the window dropping 1/4" (but then raised back up when the cable was released and then the window dropped 5"--this is seen in video 2)
As far as I can tell, there is nothing inhibiting the motion of the window as it slides up and down (although the window sometimes slowed its speed the first few inches of travel when being lowered from a fully raised position, as well as the last few inches of travel while being raised from a fully lowered position). All the while, the central locking has never worked for me (gives me a double honk every time I press the button on the dash to unlock the doors), which I thought was due to a weak driver's latch, but now I'm thinking it's multifactorial.
Is it simply the passenger door latch to blame? I don't want to just throw parts at it (latch, interior switch, exterior switch, etc.), and am really hoping it isn't the window motor itself.
