Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Happy holidays to All, Yesterday when I got to work I locked my car with the key and unlocked it when I got off with no problems. Then I stopped by the bank and tried to lock it, but nothing happened. Could my problem be the connecting rod to the cylinder or something else? The lock works fine from the inside switch on the dash. I tried it at home with the windows down. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

With all kind respect, based on that comment, please take it to your nearest Porsche service center for repair.

POST 3Original post

Could be the rod that goes from the key lock cylinder to the door latch. Known failure part. Hopefully it just fell out of the connecting piece. There is also a collar that slides up and clicks into place to hold the threaded part of the rod from the door handle. The bad part is that you have to remove the door card to check. The threaded rod in the foreground is from the door handle. The metal rod in the background is the key cylinder rod.

The door latch parts can be seen here http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=804-20

That was my first thoughts , thanks

POST 6Original post

Just another thought, check your fuse diagram and check all the fuses for the central locking system and control module. Always a good place to start before ripping into the door panel.

Whooosh. Thought he was correlating internal engine components to the locking mechanism.

POST 8Original post

The locking assembly may need to be replaced. Those wear out too. One of the guys on this forum did a DIY write up. Check it out.
