Suggestion

2) It shouldn’t be an issue, but if it is a steep angle, I would allow the engine to set for a while before starting.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just curious, does the belt that feeds the alternator and all the other accessories have to go a certain direction or just put it on? 2nd, my car has had the rear elevated now for two weeks, Is that an issue. Waiting for one last piece to come in before I lower. Thanks, David

1. No certain direction 2. No...unless you are at an extreme angle. If you are worried about the oil then lower it down and let it sit for a few minutes before starting.

POST 5Original post

1) No direction, but here’s the pattern: https://www.pelicanparts.com/techart...cing_Belts.htm 2) It shouldn’t be an issue, but if it is a steep angle, I would allow the engine to set for a while before starting.

POST 6Original post

Once you have installed the belt & run it you shouldn't reverse the direction if you ever have to reinstall it.

POST 7Original post

There are directional belts,, they typically have an arrow showing the direction to install. Dont think they made them for a porsche.

Thanks for the pic!!! I have my engine on the stand right now and installed the belt 2 days ago. Looks like I did it the wrong way. Interestingly enough the belt is on tight so I would not have realized if I didn't see you post. Thanks! Starting from the crankshaft, I've routed it 6-8-4-2-3-7-1-5.

Great image Tex! Another bit advice to the OP is to take lots of pictures along the way. Those photographs may save your butt in the long run.
