Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I ran across it on E BAY - no personal knowledge of the engine/builder but looks to be a pretty solid build for the money based on the description, if anyone is in the market.

Everybody is different, but I would opt for a factory short block and re-use my heads.

The next option up would be to assemble my own short block using nikkasil liners.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

If you're going to drop that amount of money on a slightly used, rebuilt engine that was in an accident, why not shell out a few more dollars and have Flat 6 do a proper rebuild of your own engine?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

"PLEASE do not contact me with lowballing or asking the question that anyone in this industry despises, “what’s the lowest you’ll take”?"
What a true statement! LOL
Maybe I miss read, but I thought he shipped the motor to Atlanta for a rebuild then installed it himself.
"I recently shipped an M97 3.4L engine (September 2019) to Atlanta, Ga. for ~$345 - to provide a valid example".
Clearly I skimmed to fast...

I will not be arguing this fact as prices for FSI rebuilds are rarely discussed, and are not published, but reading between the lines, I think this a good guestimate.( of course all engine builds CAN be different) Maybe someone who has done one recently will confirm or deny.
Not too bad, but for about the same price+ a little of your labor , you could have a 0 miles bottom end.

Everybody is different, but I would opt for a factory short block and re-use my heads. That would be the easy choice.

I no longer buy used engines off ebay or other sources. It's buying an unknown devil as opposed to the devil I know.
