Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I checked the operation of the hazard lights before I checked the fuse.
Leading evidence: 'Check fuse' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check fuse' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I recently replaced the passenger side regulator with a genuine Porsche part.

I am 98% sure that the up/down feature was available before I replaced the regulator.

Suggestion
Check fuse B-6, it runs hazard lights and is also a power source to window motor " release for tip up".

Suggestion
whether it reset the logic or cleared a power source path to the " release for tip up" is debatable, but glad it's working and will probably remain working...
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

For some reason I tried the one touch up and it worked fine.
I have a 7/98 build date 996. I have tried several searches but have not been able to determine if this car has the one touch up/down feature. One touch down works perfectly, but one touch up is not available. I recently replaced the passenger side regulator with a genuine Porsche part. I have owned the car since August of this year. I am 98% sure that the up/down feature was available before I replaced the regulator.
I have tried the calibration procedure, full up, hold switch for 10-15 seconds, then full down, hold switch for 10-15 seconds a few times, to no avail. Do the early cars not include the auto up feature, or is my memory failing me?
Seems like I remember something about the Cabs will only auto up after the window is "half way up"...but the Coups will auto up from the bottom. Sounds backward logic to me but that's what I remember.
I have an issue of keeping the one touch feature from working, when I want to bump the window, it wants to go all the way..lol
VitaminC,
The driver side window operation is identical to the passenger side.
So to confirm, on your 6/98 build car, the window operation includes the one touch down and one touch up feature for the full travel of the window, on both sides?
Thank you,
Can I ask what I hope is not too dumb a question: Where does the logic for this feature "live"? I don't expect that it's any part of the ECU; is it built into the switch itself? The reason I ask is because I'm interested in, hopefully, building it into some of my other cars without the feature (a 944, specifically). There are aftermarket kits but I'd like to know if there's a path that lets me use parts from newer cars.
This is without getting into the switch mounting, shape, etc; I just want to know how the system works.
Cheers!
Is your hazard lights working? Check fuse B-6, it runs hazard lights and is also a power source to window motor " release for tip up". B-6 is second row down and sixth fuse over, 15A.
The logic lives inside the power window motor, there is a different one for Cab vs Coupe/Targa.. It would probably be easier to get an electronics guru to build you a circuit.
My (02 coupe) passenger window's one touch (up or down) stopped working yesterday.
Today they worked as if there was never an issue.
Glad yours are fixed too!
I checked the operation of the hazard lights before I checked the fuse. They worked fine. So I started to do the window calibration on the driver side.
I only did the cycle down and hold once. For some reason I tried the one touch up and it worked fine. Then tried the one touch down- and it worked fine.
Then I tried both operations on this passenger side. It worked perfectly, up and down. Maybe turning on the hazard lights reset something? This was the first time I had turned on the hazards since I bought the car.
Anyhow, fixed....at least for now.
Thank you for the help,
Well, that's interesting. Obviously activating the hazard lights did
something,
whether it reset the logic or cleared a power source path to the " release for tip up" is debatable, but glad it's working and will probably remain working...
My 2004 only has one touch up on the drivers side - is that a thing? I have been in my friends 40th AE and its the same. Drivers has one touch up but not passenger?
Wow. Love RL! Just picked up an 02 C4S this week. Both windows had no one touch operation. I did the roll down, hold for 15 secs once. Roll up, hold for 15 secs once only on the driver’s side. It fixed both windows. I’d never have known this reset if not for this site 👍
