Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, Living in Vegas the summer temps can get pretty high. With my 02 temp has never really been an issue. My question is: With the older air cooled cars, is the summer temp here an issue as far as over heating? Does anyone have any experience or comments? Thanks! PS- Decided to join as a paid member last week. The small amount spent on membership is a great investment compared to the thousands I have saved because of all the great advice.

POST 2Original post

Just as long as you KEEP moving and don't use the A/C you are fine

POST 6Original post

My question is: With the older air cooled cars, is the summer temp here an issue as far as over heating? Does anyone have any experience or comments? I never had an over heating problem with my 993 even in stop and go traffic with the air conditioning on. Of course the temperatures in MD during the summer aren't as hot as those in Vegas, but I'd be surprised if you have over heating problems even in Vegas.

POST 7Original post

From my experience in looking for a 993 but buying a 996, the AC is significantly better in the 996. But, as previously mentioned, as long as the car is usually moving, the higher heat should not significantly affect the engine.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looking at a couple of 1970's era cars. Yes Dell, Getting ready to add another P-Car to the stable! Really enjoy the brand, so I thought I would get another older one. Doing my research and have found a couple I am going to look at. Thanks again.

POST 9Original post

I ran into a guy in Scottsdale with a beautiful 1969 911. He moved there from Los Angeles. He had lived there for 6 years. I asked him if he was experiencing any problems with the engine due to the heat, and he said, "not at all."

POST 10Original post

I always wondered about that too. My 78 SC never had a problem in MN. Every time I thought about it, I'd remember that there are thousands of these running around southern CA exposed to greater heat for longer periods. The air oil system seems to be very good especially for the non cat equiped cars.

POST 11Original post

My brother has a 911SC in AZ....he has no issues, but when its REALLY hot he doesnt drive it, the A/C isnt hooked up....lol....

POST 12Original post

I had an 89 turbo back in the day. The wife and I were sitting in traffic on the strip one day in Vegas in about 105 degree weather. With the A/C on, the temp went up FAST and I had to turn it off and sweat. I was not pleased. I do not miss that about the air cooled. The sound? Yeah, I miss that.
