My IMS Solution changed the filter from a cartridge to a standard filter, so no more crush washer included with the paper filter...and I forgot to pick one up.
Leading evidence: 'Replace filter' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean sump surface (plug area) real good' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Make sure you clean the sump surface (plug area) real good before re-installing your new crush washer and drain plug.

Do you guys always change the crush washer with every oil change?
While I agree replacing the crush washer on every change is a no brainer based on cost and ease of replacement, Id also add that i doubt its AS crucial for those with the LN magnetic drain plug based on the low torque spec.

I have use the same one for 3 yrs on my Cayenne without issues and if I remember to my next oil change I will replace it for the hell of it.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

If anyone has the ID and OD I might stop by a auto parts store for a generic one. Or if it has a generic designation.
I hate the thought of an oil drip .. but I suppose I can do without nee if need be. Or just wait until Monday.
I have the ims solution . There is no crush washer on the filter. Normal rubber gasket attached to filter. Or are you talking drain plug? I have reused that one but I usually (always except once) replace that one.
I think he's saying since he doesn't use an OEM filter he no longer gets the included crush washer when he buys the spin-on filter needed for the IMS Solution.
I wouldn't reuse them. It's a one use part. I would even advise you to replace the plug too. LN includes 5 of them when you purchase Driven Oil from them.
A new crush washer should be used on the drain plug with every oil change. It's usually included when you buy Porsche specific oil change kits, or purchase one or more at the local dealer or auto parts store. /X3
Yup...I waited until I got my washers.
I'm sure some here know what it's like to want to get things done over a weekend, only to find that you don't have exactly what you need.
Glad I waited.
I replace them when I remember to although they can go several oil changes before they are pooched ... I have use the same one for 3 yrs on my Cayenne without issues and if I remember to my next oil change I will replace it for the hell of it.
^^^This. That's what I did. I used to reuse the crush washer not realizing it was supposed to be changed. But after the third time using it the car developed a slow drip. Only one or two drops a day, but it was noticeable. I bought a 10-pack on Amazon and have had no problems since.
While I agree replacing the crush washer on every change is a no brainer based on cost and ease of replacement, Id also add that i doubt its AS crucial for those with the LN magnetic drain plug based on the low torque spec. If youre in a pinch and have the LN plug, I think its fine to not change each time. I reused the washer on my last change as I thought I had a new one on hand and didnt, been 1k mi and hasnt leaked a drop.
And just adding another data point, Ive ordered DT40 from LN no less than 5 times and never received crush washers.
If you don't have washers on hand and you can't wait to procure some, you have a couple of options:
1) Re-use the existing one as-is. It may drip slightly, but in my experience, that generally doesn't happen until you re-use it more than once. Enough so that the surface gets marred enough and the material work hardens enough to not make a perfect seal any longer. But, this could certainly happen on a single re-use. Sort of luck-of-the-draw.
2) Re-anneal the copper or aluminum washer by heating with a propane torch. Then sand both faces smooth with some very fine sandpaper on a flat surface. I've done this a decent amount and it effectively restores the washer to like-new function. The annealing softens it up enough to allow it to crush a bit and the sanding makes for a good sealing surface.
Of course, using a new washer is best. But I wouldn't hesitate to use either of the above in a pinch.
