Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey everyone, Ive recently purchased a 2002 996TT that was basically turned into a GT2 clone/track car by the previous owners. GT2 front bumper and ducting, carbon wing, intercoolers, stage 3 turbos, X50, EVOMS cold air box, muffler delete exhaust, hybrid clutch, lightweight flywheel, moton sport suspension. This list goes on. The car is phenomenal. However, it is REALLY difficult to drive for normal driving purposes. It does not have the GT2 slave/master conversion. Combine that with the hybrid clutch and lightweight flywheel and it is stall city. Keep in mind that I have driven stick cars my whole life and currently hold a Class A CDL, so I know how to drive stick, lol. The clutch doesnt engage until about 2 inches from the top and engages in about an inch. My question to you all is this: What is the best course of action to return the easy drivability of the car and yet not overpower the parts? Will getting the EVOMS GT2 slave kit solve a lot of my problems or would I need to go back to a dual mass flywheel too? Or is it the clutch? The previous owner said it was a hybrid 1/2 racing & 1/2 regular? The car was built by Motor Werks Racing from Atlanta and I havent gotten in touch with them yet to get a build sheet. What do you guys think?
Does the car retain it’s all wheel drive ?. you said GT2 Clone And I have seen those converted to 2 wheel drive like a real GT2 ,anyway definitely swap out the light weight fly wheel to the factory original soften the suspension and you could change the exhaust out meaning at least 200 cell cats and some new mufflers it should be fine then
Dual mass flywheel will tame the clutch some,, the tune will also matter.
Yea that call to the shop that built it is the first step. I've seen some builds
that are just oriented to the track, the only way to start the car is taking no prisoners..
Awesome looking ride..
The car retains its AWD. The ride is also really nice; sporty yet doesnt shake the teeth out of your head. So I wont need to mess with that. I was considering changing my Muffler delete exhaust for an X pipe. Would that cut out some of the drone? Or will I need a muffled X pipe to solve some of that? I enjoy the exhaust now, including volume, just dont like the drone on the highway. Here are some other pics.
I did a muffler delete on my stock C2 and the drone was the issue. I installed Car Chemistry inserts, the 3 disc version, and it dramatically reduced the drone while still keeping most of the good sound(it's a little bit quieter).
I have a GT3 with an OEM RS-4.0 clutch and flywheel and don't find the clutch difficult to manage at all. It's heavy and stiff but I have never stalled it, not even close. If you go this route you also have to install the RS-4.0 matching crank pulley.
