Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm really getting tired of dudes telling me "nice car", "thanks for bringing my car over", "I like that!".. I mean it's cool and all but I want some women to speak up. Even back when I drove a Nissan Maxima, more women commented on the car. But this thing is a man magnet. Maybe because Porsches are not in the latest rap and R&B video's is the reason most women don't even know it's a Porsche("Porsche" is only dislpayed in small font on the front emblem) and moreover that it's even good enough looking to even ask. Could be I've grown uglier too. Just venting..

POST 2Original post

Chicks notice the car, trust me, but I'm sure they feel if they comment to you you'll want to pull over and harass them. I was parked outside the W hotel in Union Square in NYC and this model looking women walks up to the car and says "I just have to say that's the sexiest car I've ever seen!", "I said thank you, thank you very much", then her boyfriend came over and said the same thing.

POST 3Original post

women see the car, but think you are too hot for them.....not because of you but because of the car...you are suddenly the Alpha male...in your rice burner you are still approachable...now in your P you are above the mass (in their eyes!) Guys are getting more honest when they see something really nice (like our P's) and can't stop themselves from turning into nerds...or admirers. my 2cents.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, I'll go with your "feel good" post.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I never harassed them in the Maxima..lol I just said thanks. Here's another male example.. Driving along and get stopped at a light. A guy pulls next to me in a BMW 3 series and yells in a "Yuppish accent", "Hey, I love your Carrera". "I have a 96 Carrera, this car here is my Bitch's car". I'm thinking "Bitch's car I don't even call my Bitches, Bitches"..

POST 6Original post

Maybe you're just reading too much into it? Maybe you are homophobic and the car makes you insecure? Guys always like cars. Girls don't always like cars. If you bought it for the chicks, well, maybe you bought for the wrong reason? (or you need to hang out at places that employ chicks named "ginger", "Cindeee" or "Jenna") lol. Lighten up and have fun with it!

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The post is light hearted.. I can't really be homophobic living in the DC area and Atlanta being my second home it would drain me if I were. Plus the fact that I never even thought of the guys who have said something to me as being gay. I bought the car for me and every time I take it out a dude says something to me.. I just want more vocal ladies, I'd even count lesbians.

POST 8Original post

I always found that my car attracts women that are way too old for me, or too young... not that it matters. I always get a laugh out of my wife when I say "chicks dig the car" (one of the most memorable lines from Batman) ...it's actually a little awkward when the wife of one of your friends is fawning over the car.

POST 9Original post

i also notice that my Porsche attracts more male attention & my SC430 attracts more attention all around, which includes female attention. For some reason the Porsche dont really do it for the ladies, as far as I have seen. maybe the porsche is much more masculine?

POST 12Original post

I get a lot of attention from both males and females. I've only owned my C4S for about 10 days, but everytime I park somewhere, the gym, grocery store, dunkin doughnuts, work, my house, etc. someone male or female comes over to complement the car. I have a new best friend every where I go.

POST 13Original post

As a rule chicks cant gush over your car. Its like hey I love your car, would you like to go home with me now? I have found that they def notice and are impressed when you pull up in the Pcar. Common question I get - how could you afford that car? They have no clue I paid less than 40K for it, and I don't feel obligated to offer up that info either...

POST 14Original post

Women are just not as comfortable as men on verbally complimenting about another's car, but most do know about Porsches. At the gas station recently, a young lady drove by while I was filling up and was staring at my C4S, and as I was pulling out of the station, I could see in the rear view mirror that she was still fixated on my car.

POST 15Original post

may be your are the gay type !! they are just trying to hit on you. or you look like one of the centerfold in a gay magazine. I wonder if 911 is on the top of Gay car list ?

POST 16Original post

Could it be that your fly was open?.... (J/K) Anyway, in general, I wonder if our beloved P-cars would get more female attention if they looked more like high fashion/pricey women's shoes...

POST 17Original post

I have a lot of kids compliment me on my car. One time I had to explain to a minivan full of soccer kids at the gas station why I am filling the car up in FRONT instead of the back! Funny story... a couple of weeks ago one of the girls in the office asked me out to an Irish pub to see this band play. We agreed to meet at the pub since I would have had to drive 25 miles out of the way to pick her up. I arrived at the pub late so it was a little tough finding a parking spot near the door. I circled around the lot once and then saw a man walking out of the pub to his car. He pointed out his car and I pulled up about 2 cars behind him and waited for him to leave. While I was waiting, I saw a group of four girls walking towards the pub. One of the girls saw me waiting, yelled out "I love your Porsche!" and started running towards my car! Before I knew it she was right at the passenger door asking me for a ride. She was pretty cute so I figured what the heck, let me have a little fun. I reached over and opened the door and she hopped in and asked "where are we going?" At this point her girlfriends started yelling "Christine get out of that car!!" I felt kind of bad after that so I told her "well, I'm just waiting for this guy to leave and then we can take a short ride to that parking spot." She was disappointed but I told her that I would buy her a drink in the pub to make it up to her. Of course I never saw her again because the pub was packed. It worked out for the best though because I ended up driving 30 miles out of the way after all at the end of the night. Porsche Cabriolet + Cute, Young (Dumb) Girl = Priceless!

POST 18Original post

Old farts like myself admire the red Porsche. Hot chicks like my 1926 Model T. Go figure.... Tom L 2002 C2

POST 19Original post

I remember TopGear saying that bmw's top that list, they even found a website that did the (top choice for gay people) survey.

POST 20Original post

So just to add to the mix here. Guards Red Boxster - no one really stops or comments that much - male or female Black 996 - every guy on the street is now my best buddy, stops to chat, want's tips on detailing, etc etc.... Even my wifey commented that it was a guy magnet. Before the 996 - MINI Cooper S - definite chick magnet - got approached everywhere - probably figured it's a low risk / 'gay' car or something - always said it was 'cute' Chris.

POST 21Original post

I'm really getting tired of dudes telling me "nice car", "thanks for bringing my car over", "I like that!".. I mean it's cool and all but I want some women to speak up. Even back when I drove a Nissan Maxima, more women commented on the car. About six years ago I took my secretary to lunch in my 911. It was a beautiful day so I put the top down, and we had a spirited drive down country roads on our way to the restaurant. On our way back to work, I asked her what she thought of my Porsche. She said that it was nice, but her favorite car was a Honda Civic. Go figure.

POST 22Original post

hmm..only had the car for a wk, but this is what i know. Most of my female friends liked the car,but they certainly do not want to own it, they prefer to have something like a 6 series or an audi TT. they think it is more expensive than all BMW's and Merc's. I certainly think other people noticed but they might simply don't care (esp women). Women are not into cars in the first place. Mostly guys came over for a chat, but sometimes even they can't tell if it's a boxter or a 911, they just know it's a Porsche (probably because of where i live). I went to O'reily's the other day looking for a tar remover, i asked the guy to show me it actually works, he said which car, I pointed to my car, 'oh the boxter' he said. I just nodded. I figure that if they guy who works in an auto parts shop doesn't recognise the car, then most people won't know what it is either. I bought the car not to get recognised anyway, bought it coz i love to drive.

POST 23Original post

Mine is blk lots of guys but the females look a lot rear/side view. One asked if I was married. But I love the cars too and always look often talk to owners. Girls are weird?????

POST 24Original post

i think 95% ppl can't tell the diff. between 996/boxster/997/987 let alone all those C4/C4S

POST 25Original post

I dunno - always nice to have feedback from females when you're preening in your vehicle.... However, I think the most priceless moment I've had was the second day I owned my C4S - I pulled thru a Target parking lot in front of a bunch of young dudes just hangning out on the corner - each one had to pretty much pick his jaw up off the ground just like a super hot untouchable chick walked by. Somehow there's just something really satisfying about that - I guess it could be the 'one day, maybe you'll own one of these, son' kind of thing.

POST 26Original post

I originally purchased this P car for my wife. (that has all changed now, I have all but given up my 944S). But the first several weeks that we had it, she got hit on, dinner offers, date invitations numerous times. Me? I got nada except the same comments as everyone else has mentioned. From Dudes. I do believe that the majority of women just dont care enough. I think that they know it is a nice car but that is more of a guy thing.

POST 27Original post

i'm surprised that a stock 911 996 attracts attn. they are so many of them here... might as well be accords. there's one black 996 around town with the full Ruf aerokit slammed on black 19" wheels. now that's a head turner.

POST 28Original post

We men are aggressive, we ask women on dates, and we will comment on a car to a complete stranger. Now a days with kidnappings and the news must women are afraid to comment. Keep your eyes open though and you will see plenty looking at you and your car like eye candy.

POST 29Original post

Dunno... One of my friends with a Ferrari 355 was saying that "if you are married, you should hide the keys". Basically a total woman magnet....told me women do weird things. However... Get lots of comments on the Supra...many more guys than girls...but that's cuz probably where I bring it, and typically guys are more open about cars. The most memorable girl experience was the "I love your car" yelled at me from by 2 girls in a passing jeep. My weirdest was where I parked it at a hotel I was staying at in Springfield, MA...I parked nice and far away...walked into the hotel...into the elevator..and 2 guys in the elevator asked me if it as my car...then told me they really liked it. Very weird since the time between parking and elevator was around 3 minutes. Lots of thumbs up on the highways. My wife brought it to the hospital where she works...the female parking attendant said "wow...amazing car...nicest one in here"...ps...lots of doctors in there with SL500, Porsche's and what not...so no idea. So..more guys that girls. Lastly...(I found a 99 C4 Cab - pics soon)... Parked it at a Radio Shack (was needing a power connector for the funky little lighter connector) and the two girls in there told me they were watching it the minute it parked there (aka they could see it from the front window). The gas station guys loved it....asked me if it was new. I think people are typically speechless when they see a Porsche and their owners deemed arrogant and unapproachable (someone else in this thread said that). thanks, Amir

POST 30Original post

Try owning an old 6 series. It's been coined the 'dude magnet' by friends. And that's a rather apt description. I'm actually shocked at how little attention the 911 gets. I assumed it was the black...

POST 31Original post

I would be amazed if the average American woman couldn't identify a 911 as a Porsche. Or maybe they just assume it's a Beetle and then what would be the point of complimenting you!

POST 32Original post

I drive an 04 Maxima and a 996 on the weekends (both black so color is not the reson). I drive the Maxima about 4 times as much and to date I have gotten zero comments on the Max. The 911 gets comments everywhere I go, esp with the the 19's on it...Dont go back to the Maxima.

POST 34Original post

Got that right - the one time a woman pulled up next to me to tell me how hot my car was, she was at least 65!

POST 35Original post

Dont know if its the color but my car gets notice everywhere I go by males and females. I even see moms breaking their necks just to take a peep. Its crazy cause its just a porsche 911'.

POST 36Original post

my porsche and miata were in the driveway and my gto was in front of the house. my neighbor is walking her dog and comes over like a little girl all giddy telling me my car is gorgeous, etc. I am on a ladder trimming a branch and say thanks. she comes closer still gushing...... at the miata. chicks dig convertibles.

POST 38Original post

My Take... I live in in the west loop of Chicago where every 3rd guy has a 911. You pull up to a club with it ( mine is pretty decked out too) and they park it in back to make room for the lambos, bentley's and ferrari's. However when I am out in the suburbs... people freak out like I was driving a spaceship... Funny, when you pull a girl out of the club and into the car the reaction you get...they seem to get noticebly friendlier. Then they get even more friendly when they walk in my place... and one more level of friendly when they go outside in the hot tub. Proof!..... Standard Club Rat Girls

POST 41Original post

too many women are cooped up six feet above us in their SUVs. not only can they not see us, but can't hear our screams when they drive over us.

POST 43Original post

Okay, here's my best story. I drive my 9 month old son to daycare each morning. I drop him off just as the doors open, so if you get there early there's usually a line of minivans and SUVs all parked waiting to get in, as they also arrived early. The first day I drove there in the Carrera I pulled into the parking lot and a line of 5 SUVs was there, guys at the wheel and I saw every one of them simultaneously strain their necks to check out the car as I pulled into my place got out of my car, walk around the back to the passsenger side and pull my son out of the car in his infant carrier. It was hilarious. Now that they're used to seeing it they don't even turn to look, but that first day was a classic day that you dream of.

POST 44Original post

My recent Pcar chick story. In the elevator of a NY hotel. Two attractive young twenty somethings girls get in, talking about one of the girls date. "I cannot believe he called, I am so excited"...."what if he drives as Porsche".. Other girl goes "well, you have a ride home or even better.." they both start giggling. My wife looks at me, rolls her eyes. This is why I hated all Porsche owners until I owned one....!

POST 45Original post

I drive a C2 and a Boxster. Get way more female attention in the Boxster and way more male comments in the C2. Guys sense the power of the C2 and most women don't care about speed and handling. They just like the "look" of a cool rag top. I suspect that a Cab and a Boxster would have an equal "wow" factor with most women. I have women friend that like to "borrow" a car to drive. They always choose the Boxster. I'm not sure if that would be true for a Lambo or Ferrari....

POST 46Original post

Move out here to San Diego, people simply don't care to much to even ask unless its something way out there. When I bring the 356 out it takes my 45 mintues to fuel up because of the questions, The 911 not a single question. Might have to do with the fact that there more Porsches out here is SD then any other place on earth, I count them on the way to work to pass the time in traffic. The only funny car story of people coming up to one of my cars involves my wife, she had taken the 308 out for some reason because I had blocked her car in. She got home and handed me the keys and said she would never drive the thing again. Took a good week to get a answer out of her but seems that some "creepy old guy" came up to here and aksed her to marry him assuming that it was her car, anfter that it was a parade of questions and she simply does not understand the appeal of driving a car that is the absolute center of attention.

POST 47Original post

I always get the cool car comments or thumbs up from little kids. I think most adult in my affluent area of the world are too jaded to make a nice comment. I found many would rather cut me off... Oh well F#%ck them

POST 48 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm not really into the little kids gauking(sp?) but on my way out of the neighborhood today 3 little boys were walking the opposite direction. I heard one of them say "that's not a BMW" as I passed by. LOL!! I immediately thought of this thread..

POST 49Original post

POST 50Original post

PUHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHhahahaha 2 funny, look man, come out with the champ. I'll show you how to floss it.

POST 51Original post

This happened just 10 minutes ago... I was stopped at a light waiting to turn on to my street to go home (I was on Rte. 123/Chain Bridge Road waiting to turn left on to International Drive, for those of you from NoVA/DC.) I just happened to look back to check out what was behind me when I saw an older man coming up to the light, checking out my car -- he even nodded at me as if to say "nice car." Anyway, I guess he was so mesmerized that he didn't notice the light was red! He slams on the brakes and stops about 2 feet past the line. A split second later I hear a loud chirp and see red and blue lights. Busted! There was one of Fairfax County's finest right next to him. I feel sorry for the guy but I guess that's one less dude who will be admiring Porsches.

POST 52Original post

Hey DC, I work downtown and have never had one chick gush, swoon, admire, bend over or anything in between. And mine is Guards Red. Maybe I need a tuneup or makeover.

POST 53Original post

I just read the whole thread, and I'm still laughing from Riad's post The 911 does seem to evoke more reactions from guys. Funny thing is, the 987S seems to attract comments from girls!! I would have thought it was the other way around. Even my wife, who tucks her hair into a baseball cap and wears sunglasses when she drives with the car top down, is not immune and has been whistled at by other girls when she drives the 987S .

POST 54Original post

Haha, this thread is great. Today's Silver Bullit Related story: Comming back from a Local Rennlister meet, i pin the throttle thru a tunnel and absolutly light the thing up (Fabspeed Bypass Pipes), pedestrians having heart attacks, ppl covering their ears, one guy allmost tripped, u know that kinda loud (unexpecting too since when i approached i had lifted off the gas). When I stop at the light just on the other side of the tunnel, this blond chick (must have been maybe 22-23 ish more or less) comes up to me and told me i scared the living crap outta her and her friends and that that was a mean thing to do. So i say i'm sorry and offer her a lift to where she has to go. 8 Mins later i've got a name, number and a date for 2morro night. And that gentlemen, is how you use an otherwise obnoxious set of mufflers to pickup chicks.

POST 55Original post

Haha, oh man, i know this feeling. back before i obtained baller rennlist status, i was driving along and was simply awstruck by a 996 with aerokit I, slammed with rims. I was so distracted staring at the car (this was before porsche's became commonplace) that i didn't notice that traffic had stopped infront of me. I slam on the brakes (which doesn't really mean much in a civic DX) and slow down to crawling speed but still manage to hit some lady's rear bumper, not hard, but it did leave two neat little holes from my front plate on there. You guys who complain about Porsche related bills, i was paying "porsche related expenses" before I even got one!

POST 56Original post
