Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

took my rig in for an oil change and was told that i needed new brakes and rotors? does this seem right to you guys? thanks jbd

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

4 track days in almost as many years

POST 4Original post

Unless your steering wheel vibrates violently under breaking at high speed, chances are you only need pads. Ask the dealer to measure the rotors and report back to you how far out of tolerance they are

POST 5Original post

Also, do a good visual inspection of the rotors to see if you have any cracks.

POST 6Original post

I don't know if this is the case with Porsche's... BUT Typically everybody wants to change your rotors whether they need it or not...good money in doing that . thanks, Amir

POST 7Original post

My 02 has 47,000 miles and needs rotors. Huge rib on the outside edge. Next on my list now that the body kit is done.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

well i told them to go ahead and do the rotors and my 45k check up and oil change for a grand total of!!!!!: $1800...gotta luv it!!! with my pca discount it will 1600 and change bastards! jbd

POST 9Original post

I needed new front rotors and pads at 43K on my C4 tip I bought them online and had them installed by my Indy for $170 in labor. My total was around $625 for the entire thing.

POST 10Original post

My '99 Cab with 48K miles looks as though the brakes will last thousands more miles. There is a small ridge near the outside edge of the rotors and the pads are still very thick. My car has never been tracked and most of the mileage is highway.

POST 11Original post

Had to have mine done at 48K miles. There was vibration on braking. Better now though. k

POST 12Original post

That was proably just uneven pad deposit that could have been fixed by re-bedding in the pads.
