Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

What do you make of a used car dealer offering a car at the Kelly BB (and NADA) estimated price for a private sale? CarFax is clean. The other time this happened the CarFax showed a wrecked listing, so I'm concerned about this one too.
The BBB says the dealer has been around for 16 years, so they're not trying to make a name for themselves. They had 3 disputes in the last 3 years. None in the last year. But two are unresolved.
Is there any way to make sure the title hasn't been 'sanitized'?

I bought my car under similar circumstances from Benttree Imports in Addison, TX. I simply asked him why he was asking such a low price. I would have felt silly trying to seriously bargain starting with his posted price. Just as directly, he gave me an answer that sounded plausible. Showed me what he had in it, and what he desired to make.
I bought the car and have had 20 months / 25K miles of wonderful, troublefree enjoyment.
keep in mind carfax isn't 100% proof. many repairs aren't reported. a good PPI can reveal any body and mechanical repairs.
get a full service and warranty repair record so you know how the car was treated and maintained.
If this is not a Porsche dealer, I would not be surprised. There is a dealer here in Newport Beach that is constantly selling Pcars under KBB prices. I actually saw a 01 Turbo 2 years ago for 71K with 6700 miles on it. TWO YEARS AGO. It was gone in a day...I asked why it was priced so low and they said, they got a good deal on it. It LOOKED perfect. Dont know anything about it becauseit was gone when I went back, but they are ALWAYS getting clean, low mileage exotics and are selling them lower than private parties....
Newport:
I work in Newport Beach and I want to keep an eye on sharply priced inventory, for when my '01 C4 comes off its lease.
In other words: I want to decide whether to keep it, or whether to buy smoething else used.
Thx.
Thanks Newport.
I hear you.
I get my C4 serviced at the Phillips service center on Birch Street (next to my office).
I like their chief mechanic (Ray). He hasn;t let me down yet. I know they also service and prep the cars that are being sold in the PCH showroom.
Beyond PPI and Carfax, the rest is up to the gods, I guess...
phillips is a consignation place...you give them your car and they try to sell it for you and take a commission.....they probably tell you what the best selling price is! I went there once....and one of the sales guys was pretty honest...told me that one car was low in price because it was worn!!
They have a great selection of P-cars.......at great prices...I guess they have people who really need to sell!
What dealer on LI? I was at Roslyn the other day and they were dealing pretty hard on new cars, so I suspect that they would do the same with used. I think the used car price is also based on what they paid. So if they cleaned up on the trade, it could be a decent opportunity. Is the car certified? I would also check for any respray? That said, at a certain price, respray becomes less of an issue.
With PPI, I really don't think that it would matter. I got my Boxster at a non-pcar dealer, and got a great price on it (even in the middle of "Boxster-mania" in '99), since no one would bite on it at a Ford dealer. My 993 came did come from a pcar dealer, for well under book. Their showroom was packed with used cars, and the Cayenne was in the process of coming into the dealership.
There's a lot of reasons for them to lower the price, besides the fact that the market is softening. I've been looking for a 996 for that very reason, while trying to get the most for my 993 while its value is still holding.
As a matter of fact, there was a 996 on LI at an independent dealer that I made an offer on last week, but they turned it down. It seems they just lowered the price to be in line with all the other cars being advertised (seems $34-35K is the sweet spot for '99-'00's with 60k mi- they were trying for $40K). If it doesn't sell, and they call me back, I'll take another $500 off my offer for just jerkin' me around
It's in Pennsylvania and it's NOT a Porsche dealer. Strictly used car. There's no mention of any certification or warranty in the website listing.
I'm going to check it out.
