Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think I have a short in the rear driver side taillight on my 02 Targa. Has anyone felt with the following issue: - turn signal stops when brake is depressed - fog light and brake light blink opposite to turn signal when brake is not depressed, headlight on, turn signal on Any ideas on this? Thanks in advance!

POST 2Original post

Pull taillight, remove bulbs, clean all contacts with electrical cleaner, replace all bulbs with new bulbs, inspect the wiring harness for shorted wires or lack of insulation. You will find that with the age of our cars, the wire insulation just falls apart.

POST 4Original post

I think ^this^ is the more reasonable of the two responses so far... Blinker fluid? Eh...not so much

POST 5Original post

Bad headlight switches to wacky things to these cars too. I would check the tail light first.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks everyone. I just pulled the taillight again and took the bulbs out. They all looked ok and now it seems to be working. I will pick up new bulbs to be safe and pop those in. is it weird that the bulbs are cross connected to each other?

POST 7Original post

Its not so much that they are cross connected but that they share a ground. If there is corosion or a short the 12v power will go in "funny" directions.
