Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

All right guys, here are some pics from the seller when I was checking the car out.

Did replace the common faults, like radiator, MAF sensor etc...but other than that I guess I was pretty lucky.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I would like to say Hi to all members here as I just got onboard recently.
A brief introduction of myself:
I have been a loyal BMW enthusiast since 1998,
and have owned a 1995 E34 5540i and a 2000 E39 540i until now.
I have always wanted to own a Porsche, which has been my dream car since my younger days. Well, finally I realized my lifetime dream.....
Acquired a 2002 Carrera 4S, Tiptronic, Seal Grey just about a week back.
It is simply exhilarating!!! Although I do miss the ride quality in my BMW.
But I had to have a Porsche, and I thought it was about time to have something really challenging and different.
Nice site here, I look forward to getting to know the gang.
Cheers from Florida!
This is very true. I too went from an E39 540 with sport package to the 911, and that 540 felt like a boat afterwards. Funny because the 540 was just about the best car I have ever owned including my 911. That thing was bullet proof, and an absolute joy on a long highway trip. Anyway, welcome post pics, and enjoy the new 911. They are awesome cars, but very different from your 540.
All right guys, here are some pics from the seller when I was checking the car out.
I've had the car all detailed inside and out now, but haven't had time to find a nice location for a good photoshoot.
welcome! beautiful C4S. I'm from E34/39 540 sport jump ship to 996 2 years ago. I still keep the E39 in family to haul the kids, or drive it when I half brain dead... just shift into D and go. after own the 996, 540 become like a boat indeed.
I had many problems with E34 540 and the E39 is even worst build. both had radiator exploed, head gasket leak, power stering fluid leak... E39 had AC compressor failure, alternator failure and countless bolt joint/arms replaced just to name few. I think 996 is real bullet proof compare to all BMWs I have own since 80'. it is sad to see bimmer's finish quality going downhill generation by generation...sorry, did not meant to highjack the thread...
Thanks for the warm welcome guys!
eddiemou: I've never really had too much problems with both the 540i's.
Did replace the common faults, like radiator, MAF sensor etc...but other than that I guess I was pretty lucky. The 540i and the 911 are 2 completely different cars. I gotta give credit to the 540i, for being a pretty good sports sedan, especially with the sport package.
But YES, judging from all the comments from you guys, I do believe after adapting to the 911, I will love the ride. I actually have no regrets switching from the boat to this rock
I know I'm gonna love it.
I've been doing research on the 911 before this and was pretty concerned with the RMS issue. Well, I'm sure glad to say after a week, and there is not a single drop of oil on my garage floor!
Cosnos - Welcome to the Prosche Phunny Pharm, which is the best Porsche site on the 'net, and congrats on getting your P-car. Nice looking ride. Thanks for sharing the pics, 'cuz we LOVE pics!
Congrats on the purchase! Prior to my 964 I had a 540 sport. Fantastic sport sedan... but totally different as you mentioned. I am now in the hunt for a 996. VP
Thanks again for the warm welcome and compliments on the car!
I have to say this, I signed up on 2 Porsche forums, and this one here is the one I'm gonna hang out on. The other one (no name mentioned) seems "cold". Although they had a "welcome" section for newbies, I posted a similar introduction there but have got no responses after 3 days! I wrote in to the admin about a small username change request, no response, wrote in a second message, request was done but no courtesy of even a quick note of acknowledgement. Well.....
Thanks again guys! "Ya'll" ROCK!!!
Oh...as for mods, nahh...not yet. It's still new to me and everything looks good.
I just realized my dream, so let me enjoy it in its purest form first.
When I start getting bored with it I'm gonna call on you guys!
My turn to welcome you as well... Your car looks great BTW w/ the wide body style C4S. Like many others here, I am also a bimmer fan, a 528i/M Sport and still love it as a daily driver. My wife has a 325i also. Unlike the 540i, my 528i has been a solid car with 84K miles on the clock. So far I only had the water pump leaking (knock on wood). As for the 996, you should get an extended warranty just in case... because Porsche parts and labor are expensive. You can read on the main problems here but so far my 4 months old '00 996 (29k miles) got 2 of the most common ones already (coolant tank leak & ignition switch gone bad) and luckily both are covered under warranty
More you hang-out with this crowd, more you will get the Mod-bug. Enjoy your car.
Cheers,
God that's hott!! Think it's my favorite color!! Way-to-go.
I've had 3's - a '92 325 and a 2000 323i. No looking back since I went Porsche. Except I did have a Cadillac V, but my new C4S, aka. the SUB, is by FAR and way the best of all. It may not have as nice fit and finish as the E46 and the raw power of the V, but overall it's the best car I've ever drivin'.
Enjoy your new ride!
