Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I recently installed Sparco Evo 2 seat in my 99' 996. I know that there is a sensor in the original seats to tell the computer that a person is in the seat and fire the airbag off in the event of an accident. Since I changed out the seats the air bag light is now on and how can I tell the computer to still make sure that the airbag fires off. I installed 5-point harnesses and also the original buckle so the seat belt light and computer is ok. Can I buy an original replacement switch and trick the computer? What do I do?

POST 2Original post

Dealer. Only a PST2 can turn it off. This could have been avoided with a simple search. When installing race seats you have to take a few precautions to keep it from happening.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What are the correct steps to take?

POST 4Original post

(1)Disconnect battery. (2)Connect seat belt plug Give me a sec and I will get you some great directions.......

POST 5Original post

Here you go for future safety and NO airbag light http://gallery.rennlist.com/gallery/albuq41

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you for that information. Now if I have the airbag light reset at the dealership and I only have the seat belt plug installed, is that adequate for the system to function properly?

POST 7Original post

That is a question I am not sure I could give you an answer for. I have that setup for ONLY the track. After track weekends I pull out my GT3 seats and put back in my comfort seats. Hopefully somebody else can chime in with a definitive answer.
