Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I did an oil change(PITA mostly because it was my first oil change on a 911 and I was being extra carefull), an air filter change, and I changed the poly-rib belt just as a precaution because mine looked fairly worn.

Suggestion
For the 45,000 Minor Maintenance service interval you are correct that the major items listed are an oil and oil filter change and the particle filter replacement, other than that the other items listed are mainly inspections such as checking all of the fluid levels and checking the condition of wires, hoses, etc..
Leading evidence: 'Replace poly-rib belt just as a precaution' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check condition of wires, hoses, etc' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Also checking for fluid leaks is an important item.

Only reason I say that is that the plugs are a PITA and it helps to get a good check of any open recalls, codes, etc, when in for that service.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Happy Friday everyone.
My 2000 Cab has 44,400 miles. I bought it with 39,000 miles and the car is CPO. When I drove off, the dealer said, "see you in 15,000 miles for an oil change." I thought to myself, "whatever".
I'm going to get the oil changed at 45,000, but here is my question: do you think that the process of certifying the car would address other preventative maintenance issues that would need to be taken care of now or should I have the regular maintenance items performed? I plan on going to an indy shop, not the dealer.
Thanks, and enjoy the weekend.
I like to take my car to the dealer for major service intervals. Other oil changes I take to my local shop.
Many good Indy shops can do the 45k maintenace, if yours will do a complete 45k service I would do that!
Thanks Riad - I guess I should clarify: I plan to go to an indy if I only need an oil change, but the dealer if I should get all items performed for 45k. I'm going to call the service manager where I bought it, but I want to get independent opinions, as I don't completely trust what he's going to tell me. I fear and dislike dealerships (for all brands, not just Porsche).
Just talked to the dealer's service manager - he said "they probably did the 30k service while certifying it". So...I'll get the 45k interval done. He quoted $625. Sound fair?
OK - I'm answering my own questions as the morning progresses. I'm not trying to annoy anyone by posting multiple times in my own thread, but I want to share what I'm learning as I go along. I was informed by an independent shop that the 45k is mainly oil change and pollen filter change. This sounds like DIY territory for me, but if I bring it to him, it's $300.
Is the pollen filter change pretty easy?
Yeah, I think you can DIY these 2 items. The polen filter replacement is shown in the manual, under the maintenance section, I think... I have not done it myself but looks like a cover removal in the front trunk passenger side and replace the filter, same as CosmosC4S. My car '00 C2 Cab has only one cabin filter.
Cheers,
it's very easy to do.
check out renntech.org for the exact steps.
order parts from sunsetporsche. you should be done in one afternoon. parts ~ $150. oil/filter. etc.
Very easy DIY. Do the service yourself. When you get to the 60K and need to change Poly belt and plugs you might want the indy to do JUST that and you do the rest. Only reason I say that is that the plugs are a PITA and it helps to get a good check of any open recalls, codes, etc, when in for that service.
Thanks to all - I just talked to another indy who confirmed 45k is just oil change and pollen filter. The rest is "inspection" of various items. So, it's time to get the hands dirty, but I probably did 1,000 oil changes while working in college, so this will be easy and kind of fun. And I just saved my self $600 (less cost of parts)! I love this site - you guys are really responsive and really helpful.
giving the ago of your car, if you have nothing to do when waiting for the oil to drain. i suggest u check out your air filer, and clean the MAF. u car may feel "refreshed" after that!
BlackCab996, I'm in the same boat as you, I have a 2000 C2 coupe with 41,000 miles which I have owned for about 4 months.
Since buying the car, with about 40,000+ miles on it at the time of purchase, I have done several DIY projects and most were fairly easy. I did an oil change(PITA mostly because it was my first oil change on a 911 and I was being extra carefull), an air filter change, and I changed the poly-rib belt just as a precaution because mine looked fairly worn. If you are reasonably handy none of these things should be a problem for you.
Our Maintenance handbook which is included with the owners manual spells out in detail all of the maintenance items required for the different miliage intervals. For the 45,000 Minor Maintenance service interval you are correct that the major items listed are an oil and oil filter change and the particle filter replacement, other than that the other items listed are mainly inspections such as checking all of the fluid levels and checking the condition of wires, hoses, etc.. Also checking for fluid leaks is an important item.
If you did not get this Maintanence log when you bought your car you can PM me and I can give you an item by item list if you need it.
DreamCarrera - thanks for the message and the offer - I think Loren at Renntech has posted the maintenance checklists, so I'll track it down over there. You're probably aware of the forum, but if not, keep your eyes on
