Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Install imss too' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check oil feed line' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Put your water pump on a 5 year PM schedule (along with your coolant changes).

Suggestion
If you don't know when/if it was changed then yes, but doing it at the same time as the IMS will not save you any labor cost.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So, I'm gonna have the clutch/RMS/IMS done on a 2003 w/ 55K miles on it.
Should the water pump be done at the same time? Do people tend to have problems with them?
The shop said it would be an extra $800. Thanks.
If you don't know when/if it was changed then yes, but doing it at the same time as the IMS will not save you any labor cost. If you're so inclined, you can DIY the water pump and thermostat for $200ish.
I asked for the IMS solution. I agree the name that they give is a bit confusing, but the part number they list goes to this:

Is that not -the- IMS solution of lore?
Put your water pump on a 5 year PM schedule (along with your coolant changes). You dont want it failing. I pulled mine after 18 years and 53k miles and it was fine, but 1 week later, my neighbors 55k 19 year old car suffered a failed WP bearing and it broke up some of the vanes, yet to be found. Plenty of posts on this so feel free to do a search if you are disinclined. Its an easy job once you know the routine.
Yup, ended up doing IMS (the "solution"), RMS, AOS, water pump, thermostat. It cost a pretty penny, but it gives me a lot of peace of mind. Have driven 500 miles since then, no issues. Got the usual constellation of window regulator issues and some cosmetic things to eventually sort out, plus for some reason my stereo doesn't turn on anymore, but I got 3.6L worth of music coming from behind me and I'm loving every mile. Will eventually get to the non-critical issues.
We specialize in rebuilding Porsche window regulators and motors and we're usually less expensive than purchasing a new regulator. Let us know if we can help you.
I installed the IMSS too. Really well done kit and well worth a few extra bucks to me since I thoroughly enjoy my car. A new DMF, clutch and PP also resulted in a significant improvement in feel even though they functioned properly and the clutch was only 40% worn. The car runs noticeably cooler with the low temp t-stat, so I’m very happy to have done that too.
i suggest you check your oil feed line. Mine was chafing just a bit against the sway bar so I made a small adjustment to the feed line and put some thin rubber around the sway bar for added protection.
