Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I removed my mufflers and when I try installing the new bypass pipes , they only slide a few inches over the stock converter pipes. As you can see from the pics, I still have another 2.5-3 to go. The Beluga pipes are 12.5 total in length which is what all of their specs say for the 996. Can anyone tell me what Im doing wrong?
Welcome!
Looks like a C4S you've got - are the bypasses for a C4S or a C2?
I'd say if they didn't cost you much and you're handy chop them to length? Although in saying that they look flanged at the end - that might be difficult.
Perhaps return them for a specific C4S set?
Thanks Dan..... yes it is a C4S. Apparently I made a bad assumption when I bought it. I'll take your advice and do some improvising. Now that I have my Fabspeed mufflers off, I'm contemplating running them up to the local muffler shop to give them the old Gundo hack! Decisions, decisions
Those are definitely for a non-S car. You can probably take them to an exhaust shop and have them chop them to the correct length and re-flare the end for pretty cheap.
Seems like I remember the ones I bought (Beluga) for my 99 Cab were 2 1/4 all the way to the bend. It would slide on as far as you wanted, just had to adjust them to fit the opening of the bumper. Yours look to be slightly smaller about 4 inches from the end? ( looking at the picture I think I can see a swedged section?) Maybe they changed or this is a defective pipe?
I also used a more substantial clamp. The one I found was the same style as the factory clamp, but made to fit the two slightly different sized OD of the cat/by-pass pipes. (could help with buzzing/rattling some have complained about?)
So I cut them down and was able to get them installed. The car is more fun drive now but wow is it loud. Although maybe it’s just my perspective from the inside because as I pulled away from the house today my wife said it sounded good. I’ll run them for a while but I think longer term I’ll be looking for something between the Fabspeed mufflers that I have and the bypass pipes.
Has as anyone ever done the gundo or fister to Fabspeeds? They are beautiful cans but way to tame for me.
I have the Beluga bypasses on mine. The loud was less of an issue than the drone. I installed the Car Chemistry 3 disc inserts and it pretty much eliminated the drone, made it a little quieter and it feels like the low end torque was a bit more than without the inserts.
