Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have a set of Boxster 18 inch wheels I use for winter on a 99 C2.
Leading evidence: 'Use winter' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So, I plan to keep my car sitting in the garage for most of the winter, but since it's C4 I've been thinking about driving with it a bit during dry/cold winter days to learn how it handles in extreme conditions.
I wouldn't want to buy super expensive wheels for only couple days, so I've been thinking about getting some cheap 986 wheels instead. Do they fit over brakes? Looks doesn't matter.
If the wheels r 18s they will fit over the brakes. U will need to double check the offsets to determin how they fit in the wheel well. Also with a c4 the tires should be less the 1.5% in diameter difference.
Post or just search when u get the size of the rim with the offsets to confirm before u buy.

The MK I cars had a 17 inch option from the factory. As long as the offset works the Boxster wheels should clear your calipers.
I would use the recommended winter tire sizes. (found here :

)
In order for the AWD system to function properly, the rear tires must be slightly smaller than the front. The recommended sizes (with the Sottozero 3 tires) provides the right ratio.
You should be able to find a set of 17 inch turbo twist 996 wheels at a fairly reasonable price. My 996 came with 17s. Not sure if they were original to the car since the car came with the sport suspension package, but they were original to a 996. They are 7.5 inch front and 9 inch rear as I recall. Offsets are between 50 and 55 mm, don't recall exactly.
I have a set of Boxster 18 inch wheels I use for winter on a 99 C2. They fit fine and the offset works, but the front are 7.5 wide not 8, and the rear are 9 inch wide not 10...
