Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

21 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anybody know the muffler dimensions for a 1999 996 c2? I have a project vehicle without mufflers and am curious what the OEM can size is. Thank you in advance for the help.

POST 2Original post

What exact dimensions are you after? I have a spare set of MK2 mufflers I can get some measurements from on the weekend.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If you could measure the height, length, and width that would be great. I realize the mufflers are asymmetrically shaped so average values will work for my purposes. Thank you

POST 4Original post

They are in storage - might need to go there tonight. If I do ill measure them up.

POST 6Original post

No problem - although knowing this board someone will be able to get you the measurements faster than I can! Either way, if they don't ill get them for you.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This is another request for assistance. If anyone can help Id be deeply appreciative.

POST 8Original post

Ahhhh I'm so sorry I completely forgot about this request!! I'll be there over the weekend and will make a note to get the measurements sorry! Alternatively I have a set of cargraphic mufflers for a 996 I can measure tonight? If not ill get the standard ones on the weekend.

POST 9Original post

Okay so finally got around to doing this! I got 33 x 20 x 15 In cm where 33 is the rough height and 20 is the width at the thickest end and 15 is the thin end - they taper from the front to the back. Hope that helps - I just sold them as well so I can't get any other dimensions sorry!

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you, thats a huge help.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You didnt happen to get a length measurement, did you?

The can is about 10.5" without the crimped flange front to back. What do you need, front to back length? I'm working under my car and have the bumper off now.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, front to back. From inlet/outlet end to end closest to back tire. Thank you

POST 14Original post

Sorry I didn't was a bit rushed as someone was picking them up. I have a set of cargraphic ones I can measure if that helps?

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you Dan, and Bill. Im all set and able to move forward with my project. 1999 996 C2, LS3 engine swap complete with 180 degree headers.

POST 19Original post

What's the distance between the sump and the ground?

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Not sure yet, however the oil pan that came on the crate motor is for a Camero. It has been replaced with a Corvette style oil pan. The new pan is 6 inches shorter. (Ill try to get some pictures, and post) With the shallow pan installed the ground clearance will be the same as the original flat six. I hope to make up for the loss of oil capacity by adding an oil cooler in the front center of the car.
