Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

18 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I noticed today that my right hand exhaust tip is a little low, and the left one is almost touching the bumper cover. I dont think it was like this a couple of days ago. Is this what a collapsed motor mount looks like? Can it happen over just a couple of days like that?

POST 3Original post

The original motor mounts are filled with hydraulic fluid, so yes, they can all of a sudden leak and drop.

POST 4Original post

It could be that the tip needs adjustment also.

POST 6Original post

In a previous thread people had posted pics of their 997 mounts completely failing and half the engine dropping out!

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have ordered Rein replacements. I was tempted to upgrade to semi-solid, but the car is a daily driver and I just couldn't justify the expense. I'm gonna need new winter tires in 4 weeks, so the money will go towards those.

Same here. OEM mounts are very good. They are still enough for most applications on the street and last a good long time.

POST 13Original post

I put in OE Porsche motor mounts well over a year ago. No problems at all. I'm very satisfied. I'm not working on the car and doing "testing" for some other brand...just not worth my time and effort.

POST 15Original post

If your stock engine mounts are more than a few years old, they are collapsed. They don't last very long. Fortunately they are cheap and easy to replace.

POST 16Original post

Quotes source post: 16185092

Mine lasted a year and only 4k miles. My short commute 4 days a week is quite twisty but, a year seem way to short for a motor mount to last!

POST 17Original post

Agreed - they should last longer than 4k miles... Rein being the OEM has never really been proven other than looking visually similar... Or maybe i'm wrong?

POST 18Original post

Quotes source post: 16185092

That doesnt make any sense. Why would Porsche design motor mounts that would last such a short time? Just because they sag a bit?
