The Aero package was not from the factory, but the 3 spoke wheel was a factory installed option.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looking at a 99 with 52k miles at a dealer in Edmonds WA. I like the color, Aero and the RMS, IMS, AOS and clutch all serviced (15,000 miles ago but 5 years) are all pluses. The asking price of 24,999 seems a little high but the dealer says the condition is immaculate. This car will be a driver for me. The new IMS unit was LNS ceramic bearing, but based on their stated 7 year service interval, it will be due for replacement in two more years.
So, I will need to do a PPI , would like to have the bores scoped. Anyone have suggestions for a PPI in Edmonds WA area?? The car was previously serviced at Chris's German Auto Service.
Link below to the car for comments on pricing.

Thx
Looks clean, all the right work has been performed. If it gets a clean PPI and they have maintenance records I would sat the price is pretty on par with what I have been seeing.
Just write the check. Tell him $22k this week, or $21k next week, 20k week after, etc. Maybe have the filter taken out to inspect and an oil analysis.
Grab it and drive like ya stole it. checks all my bucket list items.
I'm not from the area, but I have heard of Chris's German Auto Service simply from lurking on this forum. If they have been caring for it, I'd add that to the list of positives.
Looks incredible, is the aero kit on the option list? Something strikes me as strange with the black steering wheel, dash pod, and door pulls. Shouldn't they all match?
Great car and I love the red!
I don't think the price is too out of line for a dealer. As was mentioned, the big stuff's been done and it's a great color. I'm not crazy about the head unit though.
99 usually a four spoke steering wheel. Looks like someone upgraded it to a three spoke but could not find one in gray. Beautiful looking car though. I love the red....
Yeah, shame about the three spoke. Lucky the four spokes are usually avail pretty cheap.

Job done.
I've had two PPI's done at Chris' German and was very happy with the way they did them. On both cars the tech that did the inspection came out and talked to me about everything he saw and showed me the downloads they did from the modules. On the 996 I bought they cut apart the oil filter and looked for debris and let me take a look at the car on their lift. The guy who bought my 996 later had his PPI done at Squires Autowerke, I think some of the people there used to work at Chris'. They did a compression check as part of the PPI, not sure if its their encouragement or if the buyer asked for it. Chris' didn't think a compression check was necessary when I asked.
The Aero package was not from the factory, but the 3 spoke wheel was a factory installed option. Other installed options included leather seats, heated, powered, memory seats, 6 disk changer, "Board Computer???". rear wiper, Turbo look wheels.
I have used both Chris's and squires. both are good. however my most recent PPI was done by cantrell's who are good as well. I would just call chris to get history on the car
while you the car does look great, i is a bit on the high side IMHO.
Also, i have a gray 4 spoke wheel that matches, if you want to swap
That's a great looking car! The lip spoiler looks intact too. looks like the taco can be adjusted for down force, cool. Good luck, could be a fun road trip home if you're not living in the Midwest.😎
Not sure if I need the wing cranked up that much! I am interested in finding out which Aero kit that is. Did the Porsche Aerokit have an adjustable wing? I found a claim that the pre-02 Aero kit wing was adjustable. Could this be a factory kit, but dealer installed?

Will be a sort road trip if it all comes together, I live in Salt Lake City. Just to complicate things I am in Ukraine for two more weeks, so I have to do this VERY remotely.
This car broke a lot of hearts on this forum a few months ago when it popped up for sale (last April I think it was?). The previous owner (who lives down the street from me) purchased a new Ferrari and needed this car gone. He put it up for sale for something ridiculous, like $18/19k to make it move fast. This dealership bought it and it was up on CL again a few days later for the current price. The car was a steal at the price they got it at, but the price they're currently asking for it is clearly too high since they have had it for a good 9+ months now without moving it. I'm actually pretty surprised it hasn't sold yet though, because it seems to be a really nice car. I would have bought it myself if I could have scrambled the money together fast enough.
Wow, that's crazy. The car is sweet though. Maybe you can vouch for the car's history with the previous owner to help OP have more confidence. I would be in love with this car despite it being a 99, it looks way newer. I might even choose it over a 03/04.
Interesting new info. I stick by my advice. Off 22k today, 21k next week, 20k week after. It has to move some time. If they want to turn a quick 2k, they will bite. However, as it's not a factory aero, that might offend some. Mine was not a factory aero, but it was very well done kit. I think this is the same kit I had on my car.
They havent had it this whole time. I know (just through the internet) the person who bought it and ended up trading it back in when that dealer advertised a car he was more interested in later. I just asked him about it to make sure it was the same car and he confirmed. He told me it has an issue with the fans not coming on at low speed so he wires in a switch to make them come on high. He also found that it had been previously wrapped and the wrap damaged the clear coat in the frunk when removed. The respray was not good quality he says. He also said it intermittently throws a cel for evap, so beware of that if you have to get emissions done on it.
Oh wow....this car has a reputation here in the Northwest...it was at one point being sold with the wrap. I guy I know actually had an offer but backed out because of uncertainty as to what is under the wrap. 18K was a good price and I would have bought it for that...25K seems high for its history
WOW ... Great information guys!!! I Was wondering what the toggle switch was on the dash, it is mounted on a blank switch, A complete hack job. The dealership gave me the story of it being traded in on a Ferrari and that it was well cared for, a switch to turn on something that is not functioning correctly certainly doesn't sound like well cared for. There are some recent a quick ownership changes on the Carfax, so all the details provided by you all makes sense. The service from Chris's German checks out and I have the receipts for the IMS (LN), AOS, Clutch RMS service. As noted earlier 5 years and 15k miles ago, NO other history since then has been provided
So a bad fan switch (or relay etc), some paint damage from a wrap, recurring CEL due to EVAP, some potential poor ownership history, a prior purchase price of 18-19k, and they have likely already made money on the car since. Carfax history makes sense now, Seems like the third owner, Tony (the Ferrari guy, founder of Zamplebox and who put the wrap on

) had it for 4 years and put on about 13k miles, with maintenance at Chris's. Being a promotional, business car, i can imagine it had some hard driving. DME will be nice to see.
I had budgeted about 5k for initial maintenance with the current asking price. An offer at what the dealership originally purchased it at (or less) and more budget to maintenance to resolve all issues may be an option. Depending on PPI of course. Is vape smell persistent like tobacco??? We can't neglect all these beauties who have been passed around a bit, and maybe have a little history or there will eventually be none left!!
Again thanks for all the info ... eyes wide open !!
Amazing the info you can get! Thanks for all of you who have added to the knowledge of the car.
Funny ... The bill from Chris's German stated the color was Zamplebox ... I was searching for that Porsche color online, thinking that maybe it was some custom color, and wondering why the build sheet was Guards Red but the car was some custom Zamplebox Red ... and what in the world was Zamplebox Red!! HAHA !! I just figured I never had the 5,000 piece set of crayons when I was a kid and simply missed out on Zamplebox Red!!
17" twists on a Aero car? Black steering wheel? Guards Red ? Premium price? That all adds up to a big PASS for me (not to mention all the stuff about that silly wrap...)...
Personally, I'd happily pay $18k for it as-is. The list of known issues is minor stuff in my eyes as far as repair items (and it's all stuff I can handle myself).
The biggest turnoff on this car for me is the gray interior, which I feel really dates the car.
The gray doesn't bother me at all ... personal taste, I wouldn't touch a car with the beige interior ... As you said at the right price the known issues are not big problems. If the engine was ticking or smoking or the car jumping out of second gear, those would be issues.
So I will see what the dealership is willing to do on price, and arrange PPI.
Hope it works out. Lots of negatives with this chassis already. I think the dealer is hoping to snag a goober off the street that looks at it and says; 'duuuuuuuuuuuude! gotta have me this sporty red thang!'
Also, Believe I know the first owner who did care for it because I talked to him when he put his car up for sale....let me see if he still works in my firm and get back
