Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Once I saw drops of hydraulic oil appearing in front of the driver's rear tire it was time to replace the cylinders with rebuilt ones which I got from tophydraulics.com.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Guys I am not sure if this is a common issue with the 996 drop tops but my car wants to come up really slow. Same with putting it down. It gets close to its pocket but stops about 18 inches or so. I can get it to go up and down but it gets really really slow in this position. Any suggestions?

POST 2Original post

You may have a hydraulic leak on one or two soft top cylinders. Check if there is some oil at the bottom front of the rear fenders. It will confirm the leak. You may also try to add some fluid but this will be only a temporary fix.

POST 3Original post

+1 on low fluid. I had this issue about 2 years ago on my '02 cab. Topping up the fluid worked as a temporary fix (18 months, in my case). Root cause -- the seals in the hydraulic cylinders were beginning to leak by, which got worse over time. Once I saw drops of hydraulic oil appearing in front of the driver's rear tire it was time to replace the cylinders with rebuilt ones which I got from tophydraulics.com. I expect these new cylinders, with upgraded seal parts, will outlive me and maybe the car!

POST 5Original post

It is easy to add fluid. A few good YouTube videos. Try it and see if it helps the speed. It did for mine.
