Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Was looking to purchase some oil for my 99 996 that gets driven about once a month in the LA area and not tracked and has a spin on oil adapter and magnetic drain plug. It gets the oil changed frequently.
What are your thoughts on using this oil? The price is incredibly cheap and it would provide for a bit more than 2 complete oil changes at the price of $115 dollars with shipping included.
5 gallon bucket for $115. Found on eBay.

What do you guys think? Worth a try?
I wouldn't get that stuff anywhere near a Porsche M96 engine! Don't skimp on oil. Purchase Driven DT40, Motul 8100 Xcess, or at least one of the other tested and proven oil formulas for these cars.
Looks like they r more of fleet oil suppier. I could not find much in the way of specs in there web site. I would not use it without independant data but its your car. Let us know if y get low oil pressure or bore scoring. I buy Motul of amazon. I dont think its that expensive and it meets all the specs.
Either the previous owner or you went to the expense of installing the spin on filter adapter and magnets. Some cared at some point about the car. Dont go cheap now. Buy Driven DT40. $125.00 twice a year isnt going to hurt anyone.
With a name like trueguard it must be good.......
Do some research. There was a lawsuit in the late 80s or early 90s that a major oil company won. Since then you can slap the label synthetic on almost any oil.
Pre lawsuit the name was usually applied to oils with 100% synthetic basestock.
Then someone figured some oil additives are expensive and reduce catalytic converter life.
After these things happened bad oil became the new normal. Do research and buy good oils. There are a few out there. Or you can listen to those that have done the research and buy what they recommend: easy button.
I ended un getting the new Liqui Moly Molygen 5w40 oil with Porsche A40 certification for almost the same price. Its green colored oil and can be seen with a fluorescent light in case theres a leak. Has new technology. Going to use it and report.
