If you're staying in Rome I wouldn't recommend a car -- driving is difficult and parking is damned near impossible!

Silly me, your right, selecting a well run, top notch airline that has a first rate maintenance program for ------ say ------- MAINTAINING those airplanes is not that important -- in the grand scheme of things.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Heading over to Venice Italy at the end of May.
Does anyone know where I can rent an interesting car for a reasonable price over there.
Any guidence is appreciated.

How about a boat? Venice has no cars (except in the Lido section which is a small island reached by ferry). The only connection to the mainland is the ferry from Mestre, as well as a rail link through the lagoon. You can probably rent a car in Mestre--I would check with some of the major rental companies.
I am actually going to be in france for the summer. Does anyone know where I can rent something simular? I would be happy with a boxter or something not too expensive for the most part. I think it would be cool to have that for a day or so when I go to Monaco. On another note flying anywhere in europe is rediculously cheap, like a euro or two if you can believe that. Do a search I know one company ryanair, but there are many that are simular.

is another cheap airline
I am also going to the french rivera and monaco this summer and would also like to know if I can get a boxster
unfortuinately the last time i was there it seemed to be about $500 a day in todays money (USD exchange rate has got worse)
well I guess, ehem screw that. Easy jet is the other one I was thinking about.- With airfair being as cheap as it is there is no reason to rent a car unless it's close and for the day-
Lemmee see here if I got this straight ---- gonna spend 200, 300, 400 a day or more to rent a cool looking car in Italy, France, Spain??? But when it comes to FLYING IN AN AIRPLANE --- we look for the cheapest 2 buck airline around and that's cool. Am I missing something here?

Why not go with the lowest cost provider for a short hop around Europe? I can see spending the cash for a first class seat from the US to Europe or to fly on an airline with amenities. For a short trip though I'm going with best price / schedule.
Ryanair is pretty good. We flew on them two summers ago on a trip to Ireland from London. Only complaint was that checking in took a long time.
I agree, don't rent a car if you're just staying in Venice. It is a waste of money. However, if you're staying in Florence then I recommend you get a car and drive around and visit Pisa, Sienna, etc. If you're staying in Rome I wouldn't recommend a car -- driving is difficult and parking is damned near impossible! In Rome you're better off taking taxis or renting a motorino/scooter. There is a good place in Villa Borghese called I Bike Rome that has good rates (the manager there, Irene, studied in the US and speaks very good English.) It's fun, easy to zip in and out of traffic, park anywhere on the sidewalk -- and it is the Roman thing to do!
If you're staying in Paris I wouldn't recommend a car -- the Metro (get a one week pass) is excellent and cabs are convenient when you're out late after the Metro has stopped. If you're going outside Paris then check out Hertz or Avis for "regular" cars or Europcar (
http://www.europcar.fr
) for more luxurious cars (they have a better selection of convertibles, Benzes, Jags, etc.)
I have lived in Europe where I have a] owned a car, b] rented a car. In renting a car I used to rent at Frankfurt airport it had better prices and cars [Hertz or Avis.] But the prices in Europe the last time I checked was about the same in all the major cities. What I did the last time was to fly into Paris, and arrange to pick-up the car after spending a week or two in Paris so that I did not have to pay for parking the car. I just drove out of Paris on my way to the south or where I was going. Then at the end of the trip I would return the car to Paris and then spend another few weeks before coming home. When I owned a car in Europe one could find parking fairly easily. I lived in Paris in the 1st Arr. and would park a 500SEL on the street with no problem[1985.] Now, in Europe I tend to rent a Diesel auto, the price of fuel is about 30% cheaper. As a result Diesel cars are turbo charged and have all the comfort features. However, gasoline versions are available. In the South of France, the last time I was there, Hertz at the Nice airport had quite a collection of high line luxury cars for rent. If you want a Porsche specifically the best place to rent one is Germany. There is a company that rents Porsches in Germany. Do a Google.
If I can help in any other way just let me know.
