Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

36 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

what does your user name mean? i've been a rennlister for going on 2-yrs and wondered from time to time. some are obvious, but others (?) "fahren affair" was the name of my old club's newsletter. it's a play on 'foreign affair'. "fahren(d)" is drive or driven in jerry-speak.

POST 3Original post

Mine is from when I was with the Airborne regiment, jumper is what they call para troops and 5836 is my airborne coin number. The Airborne Regiment Coin The Airborne Regiment Coin is a much-prized possession among its holders. Many are the stories of challenges and counter-challenges, some successful and others not. Members of the Airborne Regiment and Ex-members alike have produced their coin in such unlikely circumstances as: while enjoying a drink in a foreign bar, while showering, during the "Sound off for equipment check!", and while walking down the aisle after being married. It is this pride in the Airborne and the close affiliation of the family, which makes this token so valuable. GENERAL: "The Paratrooper Coin" - it shall be customary for serving and former members of the Canadian Airborne Regiment and its Battle Group to have this coin always on their person. Failure to produce the Paratrooper Coin when challenged shall entail a forfeit, normally a round of drinks. DESCRIPTION: The coin is similar in size, weight and appearance to a silver dollar. The obverse side bears the Regimental crest, the reverse side the collar badge and a rib and bearing the recipient's name. ENTITLEMENT: The Paratrooper Coins are serialized and controlled by the Regimental Secretariat. New arrivals to the Regiment will be presented with the coin upon successful completion of the Airborne Indoctrination Course, or after being posted with the Regiment or Battle Group for one year. This is an excerpt from Regimental Standing Orders. Elite forces around the world have, in varying degrees, adopted the use of some token to encapsulate the complete commitment to duty and boundless pride felt for the Unit by its members. In Canada, this feeling is embodied, without reservation, in the men who served in the Canadian Airborne Regiment.

Mines simple --- I fly airplanes and drive a 996 -- or is that fly the 996 and drive the airplane? Doesn't matter, they are equally fun to pilot. 996Pilot

POST 5Original post

Mine is fairly obvious. I finally GOT A 911. But when I was doing my web search for months, yea, I a little **** in research and analysis) I was also looking in ebay. I had to get an ID so I could see some of the advanced stuff, and because I was looking for a 911, I chose geta911. So after I purchased my '04 996, I changed to gota911. Kind of simple, but as Paul Harvey would say..."now you know the rest of the story!"

Mine is the license plate on my 996 (Texas Plates).

POST 9Original post

mine is a play on my business profession. I did use the American/Euro version of the designation though as it is more recognizable. It should really be Ca4S for "the Britsih empire" group of countries. UK, CDA, Aussies, NZ etc

POST 10Original post

My name is Leon and I drive a C4 Cab (or C4C)

POST 12Original post

Good question. Mine is after the charater in a short story by James Thurber, "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty". It is about a guy who day dreams a lot. Something I have been guilty of (Porsches involved). Danny Kaye did a good job acting the role in the same title on the silver screen. Here is the story if you are bored. -Darren

POST 15Original post

mine means "cranky and pedantic engineer" in Akadian, a defunct and ancient language (wait a minute,,,I sense a redundancy here somewhere).

POST 16Original post

Again, good question. I have often wondered some names myself. Mine comes from my previous BMW days. My previous BMW was a 535i vs the 525i, so it had the "big 6". I am the father of two boys....so hence the name. But now I again have a big 6 so the name still applies...lol

POST 17Original post

Mine is a tribute to noted individuals in the history my industry (independent power development): Thomas Edison and the ENRON guys.

POST 18Original post

My signature used to contain my Internet motto (and ebay handle): Temps Perdue. This was a nod to one of my favorite novels "A la Recherche du Temps Perdue" by Marcel Proust and to what is the result of my time spend on line: lost time.

POST 19Original post

The temps perdue is argent trouvee that you're not spending at the tip rail...

Good thread - I've often wondered how people come up with their screen names. Mine is the middle english word for Nickname.

POST 25Original post

Tomorrow is promised to no man. Appreciate and enjoy your Porsche, it may be the last you ever own. My license plate is the same and has been transferred from my 964 to a 993 and now to a 996. Cheers,

POST 26Original post

sigh! I love the French language! Mine is...far more original than you might pressume....okay, perhaps not....

POST 27Original post

It certainly is a fun language for romance (T'es la plus belle du Monde . . . ), but I find that nearly every language can sound terrific if the right person is speaking it to you, provided they speak the language well. Spanish is great and, believe it or not, even German. I had the sexiest neighbor -- Anja -- when I lived in Berlin, and I probably would have done anything she wanted just due to the way it sounded when she asked. Of course, German sounded pretty rotten in the soft core **** they show on the state channels every night -- Du bist eine wondershoenes Frau. yeeeccchhhh. Dubbed Hill Streets Blues was a riot "Sei Vorsichtig Da Drausen!"

POST 29Original post

Mine is a nick name I acquired in boarding school, on account of my rather large feet. With a name like Chris, a nickname was inevitable.

POST 36Original post

Chronological order of how my name has become on this forum 1. 333 - lucky number, also, my plate in Thailand 2. EVO - car club back in thailand (bimmers/p-cars) 3. EVO_333 - ebay handle used to bid on my car without seeing it, PPI'ing it, or even carfaxing it. I had too many glasses of wine that night -- rest assured I didn't hit the reserve AND don't worry, I went through all the proper proper procedures after! whew
