Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

24 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, not really. But, the 987S front looks surprisingly like the C4S and turbo front. Atlas Grey is a great color, IMHO. A very dark blue, or Basalt Black with a blue tinge. More like gunmetal.

POST 3Original post

Palting, Atlas Blue is my favorite color... congrats!

POST 4Original post

Gorgeous!! Congrats, she is a beauty! Where does the front license plate go?? I don't see any holes.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the compliments. Atlas grey came out a little darker than I expected. Funny thing is, I like it better than what I expected . There are 2 tiny pilot holes in the front bumper. Normally these get drilled out for the plate holders by the dealer. I went to see the car as soon as it was unloaded. I noticed the lack of holes, as you did, Robyn. I simply told them not to drill it. I'll have to figure out a new excuse for the cops. The story about the dog eating the plate holder won't work with this one. Now comes the true test of restraint. 2,000 miles of it. I've already put in 230 miles of the tedious and conscientious breaking in process.

POST 7Original post

really nice! have your wife do the break in then take it to the track :O

POST 9Original post

Very nice. Earlier this year, I was thinking of either getting a new 987S or a used 996 C4S. Somehow I end up with the 996. Lucky you to have both! Enjoy!

POST 10Original post

Very Sweet Ride! Congtats! and enjoy. Now it's decision time, which one today?!?! 996 or 987?...996 or 987?... wife or mistress??? OOPS, scratch that last one!!

POST 11Original post

Palting, Go for a "reproduction" sticker front plate of the original front plate and get it screen printed on reflective material, that's what I have on my car. Follows the bumper curve and you (and the cops) will need to look closely (2 feet) to see the difference. Keep the original plate in the boot at all times. Ciao, Johannes E.

POST 12Original post

Johannes, do you have a pic of that plate on your car???

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I actually have a reproduction of a German license plate with my true US license numbers on it for the front of the C4S, Johannes. It's the European long and narrow. I didn't put it on because it seemed more illegal somehow than just not having a plate on. The cop may get more PO'd if I get pulled over for something else and he notes the "fake" plate. Thanks for the advice, though. Pretty creative. BTW, it's amazing how the 987 sounds like the older air cooled 911's in the cockpit. I drove an air-cooled in the distant past (80's), and the sound in the cockpit reminds me of that car. It could be that the engine and drivetrain being rigtht there on the 987 and the sparse amount of sound insulation on the older 911's combine to make them sound alike.

POST 14Original post

LV, Here is a pic. Palting, A good screenprinter should be able to do a US rectangular size for you without any problem. Ciao, Johannes E.

POST 17Original post

LV, Hairdryer and GooGone, voila 15 min. later the sticker plate is off. Ciao, Johannes E.

POST 18Original post

Palting, Congratulation you lucky ba@#%^d! .....hope to see you and the 987 on the track soon, have you planned you next DE yet, my first DE of the seson is this wknd....Heeeehaa!

POST 19Original post

Maybe its just me, but the 987 looks more like a 911 than the 997 from the front. Porsche was fairly unimaginative when they restyled the front of the 997. The retro single light doesnt quite cut it on what is essentially a 996 based beautifully sculpted body. They should have left the late 996 front lights alone and then they would had the perfect car. Who's in charge of styling there anyhow? Rant off.

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Too bad I'm working this weekend, jeeva. Potomac is a great group to run with, and it's at my favorite track with 3 days to boot! With the number of DE's you want to attend, though, I'm sure I'll see you sometime . Have fun, be safe, and show up TD for me, will 'ya . One thing I like about the 987 is how closely it resmbles the Porsche GT front, C4S/914-6. That's one of the first things that attracted me to the new Boxster. BTW, do you track your 914-6? That wouild be awesome.

POST 22Original post

Palting, The 914/6 is a 35 year old restored show car winner now, no track abuse. See it and others here: http://www.Porsche914MidWestClassic.com Where are you in Ohio? Bring any one of your fine cars up to the August 6 MidWest Classic and you may take home a trophy in a best non-914 Porsche category. Great rides through our countryside as well and of course a great bunch of Porsche fanatics from all over the MidWest. regards, -Richard

POST 23Original post

so i guess you can apply for all the 2 for 1 Porsche offers from now on! Beautiful set of equipment.

POST 24Original post

Very nice Palting, Congrats - I like the front of the 987 more than the 997.
