Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

And to finish the disconnect from the ashtray shelf, pinch the tines on the top of the LED socket with needle nose pliers and push the light out.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Huge shout out to Eric @ Bumper Plugs who matched my console with a new ashtray delete Also got my "track" wheels/tires done a week before my first HPDE. Inspection this morning!
new non-smoker in Artic Silver to match console
17" Boxster wheels painted duplicolor graphite with new Bridgestone RE760. Spacers should arrive this weekend.
You can buy the ashtray delete direct from Porsche (I got mine on eBay) - I think it was a part of a non-smoker package. You just remove the ashtray, remove the torx fasteners, pop out the switches and blanks in the old one, snap them into the new part, reinstall the fasteners, drop the rubber piece into the opening and you are finished. It couldn't be easier.
I know some folks like boxster 17s on 996s but I don't understand the point....aren't these 8.5" vs 10" for 996. Is there a benefit for narrower wheels?
I did it because I got a good deal (you know I love good deals
on a set of cup II wheels with good NT01s mounted. I thought they would be a good starting point and not overwhelm my ROW030 suspension. Turns out they are very good at creating a balanced set up with practically no understeer. Also thought I'd save a few bucks on tires. Two sets of NT01s later, I think I'm ready for the next level in grip, which will probably lead to the need for stiffer set up, which will lead to... well you know..
Did you have to disconnect all the window switches before separating the ashtray shelf from the cover? How about disconnecting the LED light? Not sure where or how much tension to pry off the old cover. Can you elaborate? TYVM! /exthree
Just did mine. The switches pop out of the old piece surrounding the ash tray, easy removal. Then they snap into the new "tray" mounting points. Very simple. No need to unplug them. You do lose the LED light in the ash tray, but you don't really need it.. 10 minute job. The Porsche one is only in black, but it can be painted to match the console if you want.
Yes that worked very well. And to finish the disconnect from the ashtray shelf, pinch the tines on the top of the LED socket with needle nose pliers and push the light out. I guess the cable bundles and wire lines will be well lit from now on lol. Thanks for the help. /X3
You pull out the ashtray first, then remove the two plastic torx fasteners, then lift out the switch surround, unplug the window switch electrical connectors, unplug the ashtray light electrical connector.
Remove the electrical switches (and the dummy switch plugs, if you need them, I forget if the non smoker package came with them), install them in the non-smoker unit. Put it the non smoker unit in, reinstall the plastic torx screws with their plastic bases, put the rubber liner in.
Bobs your uncle.
