Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I found this under the car in the garage yesterday. My guess is that it must be part of the brakes but I'm not sure.
I know one of you experts will identify it. It's a metal strip consisting of 6 little blocks. It has 1/4 oz 7 gm stamped on each of the individual blocks.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Bingo! Of course that's what it is.....duh!
Thanks for you're response. Any idea of what to use to put in back on? Some kind of special glue?
Thanks again,
dan
Silicone will work, try to get silver silicone so it matches wheel.
Dont mind the hecklers, they are here to break *****....keep reading and posting and youll catch up.
awe boy... we gotta teach these new guys EVERYTHING....
I have not used a hose to wash a p-car in almost 2 years. Search for Griot's waterless (spray) car wash or ONR (optimum NO RINSE) - using a hose makes a mess....all you need are some good micro fiber cloths/towels and alike along with the right cleaner. Washing can be done with less than 2 gal water and witrh the griots its like it says..... no water
Uh oh....
Gotta hose or pressure wash down the car to ensure there is no sand/debris on car so when you apply a "microfiber" wash mit or towel to car the debri isnt mushed into the paint.
I use my pressure washer then microfiber mit with excess soap....hose down, and dry with cotton towels. Then apply product.
In between washes I may use Griots Spray detailer, to do touch up on water spots or lightly soiled areas.

Back on topic....gald you fixed the wheel weight issue.
If you get a really powerful pressure washer and use a compound of silicon and carbon you can wash all of that dirty paint right off and leave the surface slightly roughed up and ready for a sparkle new coat of paint
Talk about a hijacked thread!!!!
I don't use water... or soap... or mitt...
Washing the car would destroy the awesome patina of 12 years and 60k miles of road and track. Washing is for sissy's.
I strongly recommend you do not pick up old wheel weights from the garage floor with your bare hands. You could end up with lead poisoning. Leave them there and call your local city HAZMAT Response Team.
Most segmented wheel weights are made in Japan, in the two cities that produce all Japanese-made automobiles - Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Lead
and
radioactivity - bad poo-poo.
LOL....listen I work in Heathcare and used to pick up and roll mercury around in my hand so no need to gown up and break out the nitrile gloves to pick up the wheel weight. :-)
When you have a mercury spill now you have to call a Code Brown. Too funny.
PS - on the washing of the car. My P-car never see rain so I really don't need to wash it very often all at all rather a soft dust cloth does the trick nicely.
went to dealer, there are only like 25 keys total... mine (no ****) was the LAST DAMN ONE.... now I have a spare entire set with key, anyone need it.... $10 !!
wait a minute, I better find it before I try an dsell it
LMFAO....I'm Sorry i was thinking f*ck whats falling off his p-car. Then i saw the real blurry photo and couldn't stop laughing. Hey after being in bed for a wk after having minor surgery on my leg this definatly made my day.
ON A GOOD NOTE, AT LEAST this will only cost ya a few bucks at a mom&pop tire shop.
they are held on by 2 sided tape. I have marked my wheels when one was coming lose before cleaning the old tape off then replacing it with no loss of balance.
Please note if the glue gave out on the weights and the car has been having regular tire changes as normal, then the tire changers aren't removing all the weights between tire changes. The weights don't just fall off until after a few years if that. If your car has been sitting long enough to have the same tires and weights then get all 4 rebalanced. You're best off keeping track at the next tire change if the guys leave the old weights on. It's not the right way to do it.
Thanks, you bring up a good point. I bought the car in April so this was the first tire change/balancing since I've owned it. I'll need to replace the tires next spring so I'll go through another round at that time.
Thanks again for your reply.

I was afraid to read this post. I was sure it was going to be the worst catastrophic failure of engine mounts we've heard of....
I had that happen in a 71 vw bus.. the cross brace was not tightened on the back of the motor, I was in south Carolina and all of the sudden the bus went full throttle and felt like it was going to pull a wheelie... the motor half way fell off in the back and the throttle cable pulled tight as it dragged the back half of the motor down the street... I shut it off, sat on the side of the road.. jacked it back up, mounted it and kept going... cracked a ring though from over revving it I suppose... blew smoke on deceleration after that... :-( made it down to FL, and back up to NJ though :-)
hahaha ^^ sorry, but that's funny
I had the battery fall thru the floor of a bug once on the freeway and drag along held on by the cables....might have had a tad bit of a rust issue
Another thing you might check is the wheel temp after drives. If a bearing is bad it normally makes a lot of heat and that heat is transfered into the wheel. Extra heat on the weights glue would cause it to age faster and turn to dust being all dried up. Just put a hand on the hub area of the wheel. Fastest way to check for a bad bearing. It shouldn't be so hot that it burns your hand. If it is then the bearing need looking at.
Oh man lucky it didn't short or throw acid on you. Luck guy on that one. Good thing green peace didn't catch you
Worst I got from my old times bug was the clutch cable sprung one of the windings of the cable while I was pulling out of a tight parking spot. Lucky me I caught it with the brake.
There were stories of Thunderbirds in the 60's that lost their engines on the freeway. (Probably folklore.)
I've never lost an engine, but I can confirm that when the knockoff falls off a rear wire wheel on an MG, the wire wheel can pass you going down the freeway (just as the world slopes into an odd angle and you hear a gawdawful scraping from the rear of your car).
Sorry -- didn't want to create a deviated threadum.
I once had an engine fall out of a car... but it was an engine in the back of a pickup that slid out on a winter day as I was going up a hill. I was very fortunate that the person behind me was able to avoid it!!
secrue your load !!
people often ask me why I tie everything down in the back of the truck (and I mean everything)... that's why..... in my case I had a clothes dryer fly from the cab to the tailgate and slam into it tipping and ALMOST going out.... who would have thought? well, now I tie everything down!
glad no one was hurt Van
Lol that is funny. I've never had a part fall off however did have my hood fly up on me on the highway once....(no it wasn't a p-car but a Buick LaSabre).....pretty scary.
forgot to latch down my targa top on the supra.... flew off my car, went through the grill and embeds into my gf radiator... (she was following me). true story....
Loaded a up Toyota SR-5 years ago with oak 1x6 lumber. About 300 9 foot rough sawn wood. Pulled out of the lumber yard and lost the wood at the intersection. Slipped right out the tailgate. Had so much weight in the bed that the headlights pointed up. Not fun.....
