Be careful not to lose the two springs that are behind the switch when you pull it off (normally use the blade of a table knife on each side of the switch).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

On my ('02 C4S) passenger seatback, the power adjustment is a continuous one where you can set it to stop anywhere on the recline. On my driver's seatback however...the adjustment is in notches... meaning when you press the lever, it moves a notch. You then release and press another time, and it moves another notch. Is this how it's supposed to be for safety reasons (for example while driving) or is there something going wrong? I kinda like how it moves in notches instead of continuous...

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Wow...18 people viewed this post and none has the power seat option, either that or nobody cares.....

POST 3Original post

not that way on my 00' continuous to the point of full recline

POST 4Original post

Mine is continous also.... although, I can offer one piece of info. Mine went notchy after I removed the switch cover and replaced it incorrectly. You might want to think about whether the cover has ever been off and might have been replaced incorrectly... it's a real pain to get it back in place... usually take me several attempts.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

YES! oreganet, thanks for the tip. The service manager at the dealer did remove the switch cover and messed with the bare switches when they couldn't program my new key remote correctly. I'll take a look...

POST 6Original post

Excellent! Give it a shot. Be careful not to lose the two springs that are behind the switch when you pull it off (normally use the blade of a table knife on each side of the switch). It's really tricky to get the cover back in place. I'm still not fully happy with the function on mine, but I know the cause and occasionally pull it off and have another go... one day I'll get it in place so that it's smooth in all directions.
