Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am having major issues when I punch the throttle with oil buring through the exhaust. Car is a 1999 996 C2. Any ideas I have 62K miles and Tip trany.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If it is rings wouldnt my performance suffer? Same with valve guides?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I should alo say that there is an oil leak as well you can see it come off the engine when I stop. I am taking it to the dealer Wednesday I just just trying to see if there was something i could look at in the meantime...

POST 5Original post

Are you sure it is coming directly out of the exhaust? My bet would be that it is oil leaking off of the heads onto the header primaries and then burning leaving a cloud behind you. Why I say this is because my 2000 does this. Look at your headers and see if any oil has turned the headers oily and black. If there is, it is just a oil leak, nothing to worry about as far as the mechanicals go.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am not having anything in the pipes. I think it is dripping on the header. Is that a $$$ bill. I am taking to my dealer in Barrington for the repairs.

POST 8Original post

I had both symptoms at different times over my ownership time. Once was the rings and the second time was the oil seperator. Both repairs were not very expensive at all. The first was warranty time and the 2nd was on my dime.

POST 9Original post

Not even remotely close (repairing an oil leak) to how much it would cost to replace the engine or repair it for bad rings or valve guides
