Melbourne Fun Run - Post Mortem
We had a great fun run yesterday.
There were three Porsches
A new 997 (Shaun's)
A one of a kind Ruf 2003 Turbo (Steve's)
And my 2003 Cab
I have never been so exhilarated driving the car as I was on a stretch of road from Ft Pierce to Arcadia, exactly 100 miles long.
Without out going into explicit incriminating details, we all had a lot of fun. I cannot wait to do this run again.

You missed a good time. We ate in Arcadia at a Family Restaurant. It was good for a local place.
I go to Las Vegas for a week tomorrow with some former work friends from DC but other than that I will be available most weekends until May 1st.
I like the Route 70 run, 100 miles of almost all open road except a few stretches in two small cities. But I am sure Fl has a million route 70s going east to west that we could try out.
Let me know whats cooking for the next run. I am sure Shaun and his lovely wife will join us too. And we can ask Steve if he is not on his yacht. That Ruf TT is a sight to behold.
Oh Yeah,,, On your fun run,, can the "real" Porsche's participate, you know the water cooled ones?????? LOL

Water-Cooled are allowed so long as the drivers wear "real Porsches are air-cooled" T-Shirts!!!
Those tee shirts went out with the dinosaur.
The new shirts say the converse.
I would be happy bringing some extra shirts for the Airs.

Every time I go to the Police State VA I get a ticket. Even on an isolated, deserted, and remote section of Blue Ridge Pkwy. by a park ranger. Ridiculous.
Got clocked in my 993 doing 89 in a 35 in Boca Raton once & got off with a warning.

Someone I know recently got a ticket here in Fl,, doing 108 mph on route 95.
Here are the two scenarios:
Virginia - Fairfax County (for example):
Bull horn - "Out of the car and get on your knees, hands behind your back" (in the meantime, 20 police cars sierns loud come to the scene) Felonious speeding, loss of license for a year, handcuffed and taken to jail and before a magistrate, bond posted. G-D forbid if you had any other traffic violations the past 2 yrs, they may throw the key away. Insurance skyrockets for 5 years. Reckless driving, endangerment.
Court fees, lawyers fees probably over $10,000.
Fl (true case):
One lone State Police Trooper - "License and registration please" "You were clocked at 108 mph in a 70 mph zone, I have to give you a citation"
10 minutes later, you are on your way and the fine is $350. You can get a Speeding Attorney Specialist and not get any points or Insurance adjustments.
The Cop never said to "slow down".. It's a busniness in FL,,, they dont have the time to waste taking you to jail and the money to waste feeding you in jail. It makes business sense. I love Florida....
