Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Get them to replace the clutch, it's definitely going.

I'd do a PPI on any car prior to purchase it's just ironic that the clutch acted up during a test drive.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I test drove a Certified 01 C4 Cab today and the first thing I noticed was that the clutch pedal seemed difficult to engage. Reminded me more of my 993 than my 996. Car ran fine and then on the freeway while in gear when i accelerated the engine would jump 2000 RPMs 4K to 6K before the car would accelerate. Once this happened the car RPMs would drop. My first thought was clutch but if i am already in gear and simply stepping on the gas I would think a bad clutch would cause this. Not really considering the car any more but I am curious what the problem might be?
Thanks
sounds like a clutch to me. as the clutch wear the angle of the pressure plate fingers to the relase bearing becomes steeper, due to that you lose alot of the mechnaical advange (remember high school and simple machines think lever) of the release lever. 9 times out of 10 a 9x6 wit ha stiff pedal is gonan need a clutch in the near future
Did you read the fine print?
Maybe it was CERTIFIED to need a new clutch.
I'm hearing more and more about obvious easily detectable flaws in "Certified Vehicles", maybe it's a case of Sales Manager telling Tech to certify a certain car. Tech then gets his certification sheet and checks off 329 items and signs an illegable signature. Now this car will sell for a premium and dealer marks it up accordingly padding the price enough that they can cover a few repairs needed in the future.
I should have been more clear on this. the car was certified in 05 by Porsche. This involves a private party selling the car with one year left on the warranty. It's at the dealer now so we'll see what they say. I'd do a PPI on any car prior to purchase it's just ironic that the clutch acted up during a test drive.
Just make sure it does not have either of these switches on the upper center console. The top switch activates the Sonar and the second switch raises/lowers the Periscope!
Oh, my bad. I thought you were
considering
having the Sidewinders installed, I didn't know you already had them installed. I'll check my switch "inventory" to see what I can find!
oreganet - OK, I "found" two different switches in my "inventory."
The first pic is a switch that I believe is for the Sidewinder option.
The second pic is for a nuclear war head. You will notice that it has a lighted indicator on it. Because the nukes are a "little" more dangerous than the Sidewinders, you have to push the nuke button twice to launch it. On the first push of the switch, the light turns from green to yellow to arm the nuke. The second time you push the switch, the light turns red and nuke is launched. Good bye rush hour traffic!
Just let me know which switch you need.
Glad to be of service!
BTW - do you have the dual or quad Sidewinders? If you have dual, you will only need one switch. But if you have the quad, then you will need two switches, one for each side, like in the pic below.
Well, you HAVE to have front a rear, anything less is like getting sonar without the underwater propulsion system, it's just not done.
I could have done with it today when I almost got forced off the road by a gardener's truck that didn't see me before pulling into my lane.... it's a good thing that we have speed and acceleration oln our side.
BTW - I had my Periscope installed today. Porsche is really starting to p*ss me off though! The 'Scope comes in flat plack and they charge $200 to paint it. Anyway, it looks pretty cool.
